awesome design! wish it was taller though so it could make a real impact on the skyline. it's still pretty tall for this neighborhood but another 100-150 feet would have made it much more visible from many more angles. It could sort of be like Philadelphia version of the odd-ball love-it or hate-it Gherkin building in London.
The location and design of this will work. It's light and playful----very different in the history of architecture. It will look good from the Schuylkill Expressway.
The size of this project is amazing. CHOP is a great place and will continue to lead the way in pediatric care. My son has had to go there a couple times and the service has always been amazing. They have great people working there.
Ok as it turns out the 14/15th floors are the core stubs that will be used for mthe future expansion. The upright beams will be supporting the "screen" that will go around the top. In other words this is about as high as it will go gor now....
Also the Utilities plant is also braced for a possible overbuild:
Nice to see Philly building up their medical facilities! That makes Philly very attractive in my eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if the hospital construction catalyzes more development in the area.

UCity is already pretty built up (where the Penn Medicine/CHOP medical center is). It is also BOOMING right now. There will be about 10 towers/highrises going up at the same time. Some are already under construction, including this one and another Medical/Office building on Market Street. The 6th tallest building in the city will break ground next year in University City and will rise 656 feet.
