Love the mountain shots! It's amazing how the city sparkles on smog-free days. L.A. has got some great neighbourhoods. One thing I found surprising was how difficult it was to find an all night eatery in downtown Hollywood after a night of clubbing.

I love LA; it has beaches, hills, cliffs, mountains, and deserts, what other metro area has all of that.

It also has islands. Can't forget the Channel Islands, which are part of Los Angeles County.

God, the scenery in the LA area is so amazing. If Los Angeles were less spread out and had much better mass transit I would love to live there because it has absolutely all the other elements i'm looking for in a home town. Really great photos.

Not quite. Only Santa Catalina and San Clemente (closed to the public) are part of LA County.

Anacapa and San Nicholas (closed to the public) are part of Ventura County.

Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, San Miguel and Santa Rosa are all part of Santa Barbara County.

I never understood how San Clemente Island became part of LA County. It is directly off the coast of San Diego, it seems logical that it would be part of SD County.

Plus just to the south of that satellite image posted by Dave are the Coronado Islands of Baja California Norte. They are fairly small but I'm sure they would be visible from that satellite angle.
