Can't wait to see this project really start to take shape. It has a fantastic design and, obviously, is of massive importance. Way to go Nashville!

A 5th tower crane has been installed along the south side of the complex, and should be the last one for the actual conv. center and details such as TIF and bonds are being worked on for the adjoining Omni Hotel.

That should commence by next summer I believe, on the Omni Hotel.

Outside of this massive project not much else in terms of vertical construction is going on. The MCC is expected to be a catalyst though and possibly the key to getting Nashville back on the way to growth and continued new construction to make the core more dense and connected.

Any idea on the firm designing the hotel?

Not a clue yet, at least from every last piece of info I could find about the proposal.

Correction to an earlier post:

There are currently 6 tower cranes on site, of which 5 are truly elevated high above the site with another, much shorter one, in the middle of the center's footprint.

Someone needs to climb up on top of the Pinnacle and clean the camera.

Other than that construction is moving along well.

Update on construction:

The MCC just recently passed the 50% completion mark this month and work continues on schedule and just under budget. All tower cranes are gone from the site, as is the NES substation at 6th Ave South & Demonbreun St which now allows for the front (north side) of the MCC to be completed all the way across.

A few pics, more will come when I get the time downtown.

NE corner of the site at 5th and Demonbreun.

Glass installation underway at the main entrance, horrible pic.

A few pictures from Wednesday by me and a screen shot from the OxBlue construction camera.

Moving right along and looking good.

Uh, this looks awesome. How in the world did I not know about this? Hopefully all those ancillary developments highlighted on the previous page come to fruition.

I am very excited about the convention center and the Omni hotel next door (of which me or someone else really needs to start taking pictures of). This is absolutely one of the most exciting things that has happened to downtown in recent memory. If the Giarratana's developments on Church and around the Encore all get going too, Nashville's downtown will be radically transformed. All the apartments going on inside the 440 loop also have me excited for future high-rise development within downtown.

That would be awesome if you could. It should be getting out of the ground here soon and we'll be able to see the progress at street level. I was gonna try to take some pictures yesterday, but the blue mesh on the fences is covering everything up.

I found that a problem this afternoon (went downtown for the game). However, as they go up we will able to see more and more. I will see what I can do, but my trips to downtown are just a few times a month. We need someone who lives closer and can try for better angles.

^Someone who lives or knows someone who lives in Encore would be perfect, but I don't know anyone who does. However, once it gets out of the ground someone will start posting photos of the progress. I'm usually only in Nashville once a month or so and I can take update photos then.

Nice article and video of the green roof being installed at the MCC.

Music City Center Skywalk

I noticed on the construction camera a long metal cover going across 5th avenue between the MCC and the Omni. Does anyone know if it is the skywalk that was proposed with this project?

http://http://oxblue.com/pro/open/cl...nventioncenter

It is a grey metal piece held up by red-colored beams.
