Brandywine - are you saying that you don't like the renderings for Lincoln Square and Liberty Square? I think they're great, esp Liberty Square. Not everything has to be red brick.....

The scale and impact of Lincoln Square is great, but the massing and design are pretty ugly. thank god they're keeping the existing structure to give it a bit of character at least.

I'm digging Liberty Square, overall (especially for that area).

I also like the aesthetic of Liberty Square. The Lincoln Square renders look hideous.

These renders are missing the overhead power lines which I assume are going to remain.

It is nice to aspire to putting the electric underground, however.

Once can dream.

I think Lincoln Square is awesome in-fill on a huge bulky, unwieldy lot (with an historic structure on it). It's all about how this will interact at street level, and by the looks of the renders it seems to be a home run.

From Alterra's website:

Board Street is Philly's well-known boulevard. This will positively change the character of the corner of Broad and Washington.

I'm probably the only one who thinks the train shed looks silly. It's a rather nondescript, low slung building that adds nothing. Yes, Lincoln was a great president but I found the historic link to be pretty weak nonetheless. Maybe it would help if I saw more renderings of what the shed will turn into? I don't know...I'm not sold on that part.

It should also spur development on Washington as well. It is a really key lot to take out with some smart usage. It's not the tallest or prettiest building and that's ok (although I think the reuse of the train shed will be really good looking). It's interaction with the street and the retail and apartments it's bringing could really impact two high potential, highly visible corridors, directly impacting at least 3 (and likely more) neighborhoods.

Who known, maybe as a result of Lincoln Square's success, the MickeyDs or the city building at Broad and Lombard will be replaced with a tall and gorgeous buildings that hide the Symphony House (ok, that's probably not going to happen, but there's a chance!)

You should see it in construction, new roof deck, exposed truss, lots of space opened up on the side that hopefully will remain windows. I think it could be really special but I'm not 100% sure it will reach its full potential based on lackluster renders of main building

I was looking for new permit info on key projects. Didn't see much, but demo permits for the Met theater have been issued. Nothing on 1300 fairmount or a host of other big projects that were announced long ago.
