Favor from SLC/Utah Peeps - Beehives?

Hey Salt Lake friends,

I need to find as many examples of beehive symbols in Utah architecture as I can by Friday afternoon. Some that I can think of off the top of my head:

Beehive House
Hotel Utah/Joseph Smith Mem Bldg
Beerhive
Pavement on 100 South
Statues in front of state capitol

...then there are also branded things, like Beehive Bail and Bonds, Beehive Credit Union, etc....but looking for things that are more permanently a part of the city. Although I do love the Beerhive.

...what am I missing?

I think there are beehives on the door handles of the Salt Lake Temple

The dome of the state capital building could be viewed as a beehive.

If you contact the Utah Beekeepers, I'm sure they can tell you where a whole bunch of beehives are. (utahbeekeepers.com)

Don't forget the only Bee mascot in the State

They used to have a beehive sculpture in the front of the school that we would vandalize. I think they moved it inside since their renovations.

Im addition to the staties at capitol, there are also some beehives in the glass.

The beehive house has tons of beehives in the interior of the house, not just the exterior, e.g., the staircase railing posts.

A lot of the highway signs have the route numbers written on beehives.

The Spring City Ward balcony vestibule is a beehive. A pretty creative one at that.

Thanks -- these are all great!

I'm teaching a class of history teachers on Saturday about how architecture/the built environment can influence a community, symbols and symbolism, etc. The whole beehive thing will just be one part of it, but it's great to have so many local examples.

Are all of these beehives pioneer-era? It would be really cool if there were some more recent examples. I think new buildings with stylistic 'throw-backs' are always awesome.

The more current ones are things like the Beerhive and the Beehive Tea Room -- not permanent parts of the architecture, but definite throwbacks.

The last time I could remember, Utah State Trooper vehicles have the beehive symbol on the sides.

The Capitol Theatre marquee with the beehive is only 10-15 years old. I can't remember when they put that up.
