Article says no P3 for 470, will be funded through toll revenue bonds.

Quote:
A P3 is being used to rebuild U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder, a move criticized by some who say private firms don't have the best interests of the public in mind.

But officials this week said a public-private pact wouldn't fit well with C-470 plans.

"Our analysis shows that due to limited size and scope of the C-470 project, the state does not appear to receive any additional value in using a P3," said Tim Gagen, chair of the High Performance Transportation Enterprise board of directors.

Not a P3, just your standard design-build contract with the state issuing the debt and collecting toll revenues. I-70 we know for sure will be a P3; CDOT's most ambitious P3 to date.

Northeast Corridor West.

The SEPTA units can run at at least 100 mph.

I love them. I've said it before and I'll say it again: These are clearly not toys. These are real, serious trains.

The mantra of good engineering is 'Form Follows Function'. In this case, though, I'm inclined to say that function took form out back and shot it dead. What I mean is that while these trains look good to this function-driven engineer, I don't expect anyone else share my view.

Will the diesel lines run a locomotive and passenger cars behind it or DMUs? I've never really liked DMUs, they are ugly imo. In the future when FrontRunner gets catenary wiring and double tracks we will have some kind of electric locomotives and hopefully we can go up to 100 mph throughout the corridor (which should hopefully stretch 120 miles in the next 10 years - Brigham city to Payson

Not DMU or Locomotive Pull. It's EMU.

Yes I know the silver liners are EMU but aren't the Northwest and gold lines diesel?

The East, Gold, Northwest segment to Westminster, and the North lines will all run the aforementioned SilverLiner V EMU's.

They didn't scrap DMU's yet. If they go any further on the northwest line they are supposed to use DMU's since they get to the BNSF shared track portion before the next stop.

The gold line to my knowledge never had a preferred alternative be DMU, I know it switched from Light Rail to EMU late in the process. The north line was slated at one point to be DMU but they did a cost/benefit during the study process and they determined over the long run it was worth it to electrify that line.
