River Plant
Former PECO Delaware Power Station which generated its first volt on October 21, 1920. The building was designed by industrial architect John Torrey Windrim, whose work with both PECO and the Bell Telephone Company established him as a skilled translator of corporate identity into structure, in the beaux arts classic style has earned it a singular place in the industrial history of Philadelphia. W.C.L Eglin served as consulting engineer.

PECO still occasionally operates out of a section of the building during periods of peak power use, but the majority of the building is vacant and in a moderate state of decay. This practice is slated to end in 2012. The far end of the site once included a newer oil-fired (originally coal-fired) peaking station built by Exelon Generating Company LLC., which ceased operation in 2004 and was demolished in 2008.
