No, not really.
It takes allot of Chutzpah to brag that you built the NY skyline when you've been "trumped" by other developers in your own city!

I know this is off-topic, but has there been a final resolution to the crown lighting "situation" on One57? Obviously it can't be because they couldn't get it to work -value engineering maybe?

NYC's tallest skyscraper on Billionaire’s Row . .
will soar 1,550 feet in the air . .
cost a hefty $3 billion . .
and flaunt a crown of shame . .
symbolic of a has-been nation . .
Chinese money strongly suggested . .
nix the patriotic spire . .

So this building's gonna be 130 storeys?

What's the ceiling height gonna be, 11 feet per floor?

Doing the math that would seem to be the max ceiling height possible if the building is capped at 1,550 feet.

Likely it's not really 130 floors but rather a marketing gimmick. It has ~100 real floors and 130 "floors" just like 1WTC, Trump World Tower, One57 etc.

But, the 1 WTC Building has only 105 floors including the so called technical floors.

How does this one ave 131 total floors?

I missed the article on that.

That sounds weird because aren't the Nordstrom floors at the base supposed to be super high? The condos would barely have ten foot ceilings...certainly for what this is billed as not exactly a great selling point!

There's lots of tricky floor numbering going on, particularly in mix-used projects like the Time-Warner building.

The Trump World Tower, near the UN, is advertised as 90 floors and it's only 70 floors.

In the Time Warner building, residential floors jump from the 23rd floor to the 51st floor, and no way is this an 80 story building.

It's based on if the building were totally residential, 8-9 feet floor to ceiling, and if the lower floors are higher, that's how they calculate the floor numbers.

Don't believe for none minute the Palazzo tower in Las Vegas is 64 stories, it's only 54 stories, because to attract the superstitious Asians, with their horrors of the number 4, all the 4's have disappeared, and go look at the elevator buttons: no 40th thru the 49th floor buttons are there!

And if that what it takes to make the Chinese more comfortable, then so be it!

Imagine what the brokers go through in NYC selling condo's to the Chinese!!! 8 is their lucky number, so they'll all want to live on the 8th floor or the 88th floor, and you couldn't sell them a unit on the 4th or 44th floor even if you slashed the price in half!

Just wait until it's completed and soars above you. No one will be complaining, just drooling.

As always ILNY, your photos are superb! Don't know what you use for gear and post processing, but you sure make it work to show the shadows clearly while the bright backgrounds don't get washed out. Very cool!

The construction on this beast fascinates and confuses me. The core seems more like a maze than a normal building core. It will be nice to see it with a couple more hundred vertical feet, so one can get a better feel for how all the parts come together.

I doubt it. Even with the elevation boost, this will be closer to 1,640 ft. Unless Barnett has some surprise, but at this point, that's all speculation. At 1,550 ft though, it will not be 1,700' even with the elevation boost. You could say that at AMSL, yes, it will appear closer to Entizar's height, but not on a strictly structural bases.

AMSL = Above mean sea level. With the spire, idk, nobody knows except Barnett and the architect team. I doubt it though. In the end, let's be content with a 1,550 ft tower. Good enough for the city.
