Speaking of streets and roads. I was driving back from a friends place in Hollywood, used the 101 to get back home (Long Beach) and NO ONE on here is talking about it but the the new 6th street viaduct arches are HUGE. Driving south on the 101, turning the bend the freeway arch was just WOW, this is for sure going to be a tourist attraction. AND NO ONE HAS PICTURES OF THIS THING YET???????

Please lets start 2021 off right and have some one brave downtown for a photo update, specifically the 6th street viaduct. I'd appreciate it.
I was just telling someone yesterday I can see it from the side of my place facing north. You can see the whole thing...it’s going to be impressive!!! You are so correct.

I posted a few updates in the transportation thread recently. Right now it’s hard to photograph the progress of the viaduct unless you walk over the 4th street bridge or get up on a garage and photograph it from the arts district. Once the arches start to materialize over the LA River, I’m sure you’ll see more updates.
I agree though, it’s going to be iconic — perhaps the most unique bridge design under construction in the country.

Drove under the 6th St Viaduct construction this past weekend. My first impression was, without thinking and realizing what it was, "what is this homage to McDonald's?" Hopefully once the forms are gone and the cables are installed, that image won't be so pronounced.

Grand doesnt look much different than the pic I posted a few pages back. I run by it a few times a week. Definitely starting to crop up in the Skyline when viewing from the east

Here's a few from 12/26

And Fig+Pico looks the same as the recent news pic lol, but here's one from 12/30

And while I'm at it, an obligatory Oceanwide non-update - the cranes still move every few days, but otherwise nothing happens. Some other articles claim that Oceanwide's SF project was supposed to close its sale to a Beijing private equity firm on 12/31/20 but it never happened, so that's probably not good. https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfranc...-unravels.html

I snapped this a few days ago from the absolutely fantastic, Vista Hermosa Park.

The Grand is definitely starting to make its presence felt.

FYI looks like you posted a private gmail image, so nobody else can see it even if you can.

Ah! Thanks for the heads up. What is the best way to post personal images to the site?

I usually use imgur and when posting the bbcode share link add "l" to the end of the filename in the URL so you get a large thumbnail instead of full size photo which can be huge. You can quote one of my posts to look at example in the editor.

^ Great shot! That's the most prominent I've seen The Grand in the skyline yet.

Any update on the Spring street hotel? I really hope they’ll build it!

I’ve been hoping for that one as well...especially with the new proposal a few blocks north on Spring.

From tonight, there are 14 floors above the last setback, with the top parapet, this is probably where this will end up for height.

Civic Center should get a few more towers popping up. The proposed Onni towers and the 2nd/Broadway tower has the green light once the Regional Connector is finished.

From a skyline perspective, the Onni towers at the LA Times building will appear shorter than The Grand from all angles except when looking south or west at the skyline. That's due to a considerable elevation difference between The Grand and the block surrounded by 1st, Spring, 2nd, and Broadway.
