I don’t believe there was ever scaffolding there in the alley. They use that back entrance a lot, going in and out doing work. Maybe they will clean up the alley facing side once all the stuff inside is complete and things (larger parts) won’t be going in and out of that back entrance/exit. They have done a great job so far, I doubt they will cut corners. It’s not done until it’s done.

And most importantly, will bring a lot more human beings to liven up what still can be a sleepy part of downtown despite the Broad and WDCH.

I remember when they removed the netting over the scaffolding on 8th a few weeks ago, I made a comment to my Fiancée how great and new the trim looks.
We also noticed the alley part wasn't done and figured they'll get to it.

100% they did have scaffolding on the alley part. In fact that was the last of the scaffolding removed as it had the stairs to go to the roof. I would watch them walk by the dirty alley trim as they walked up the stairs to the roof and wondered if someone would notice "Oh... we forgot this part!" Unfortunately that never happened.

Now they removed all the scaffolding.

Walked over to the Tower Theater yesterday. The boss man told me they should be done with this project by March 2021.

Getting some more restaurants open in the area, hopefully in the May Co. and Merritt buildings, will help maximize the impact of the Tower renovation and the intersection as a whole.

^ Wow, the Tower Theatre looks incredible! It's so satisfying to see these long neglected historic buildings getting restored in DTLA.

Good news. Hopefully, this is will get the other developments going on Alameda. It's a rough looking street.

Man seeing The Grand impact on that area really makes me wish it happened a decade ago, so far behind most other major cities in this department imo, until now. This project is going to inspire many others around it, also making smaller buildings in that area feel inferior. Forcing change is good.

L.A. is beginning to feel more like NYC but a lot more sprawling, its scale is enormous.

Anyone have a recent image that shows the impact of The Grand on the entire skyline?

Not only is this video weird, not only is this video grossly inaccurate, not only is this video misleading. But. There is no need for it here LOL.

Not only is LA getting beat up by NYC and Chicago peeps, Houston and the bay area peeps (The who has the tallest on the west coast war of 2017, casualties: thousands of egos), and the "Detroit is better than LA" war of 2014 (some of you are too young to remember that one) but now a random from ATL has thrown Atlanta's hat in the ring.

At this point.....I take it as a badge of honor that people feel LA is their competetion haha like you go to sleep thinking about LA day and night and most likely never even visited the city. 2020 is turning out to be a wild year.

My bad! I mean, I'd give L.A. the 6 spot for sure, anything higher is very debatable, going against slightly more picturesque skylines like SF, Seattle and much more dense and more numerous Miami, NY, Chicago.

L.A. and Philly are about on par in different ways, once again very debatable. This discussion belongs somewhere else so let's nip it in the bud here.
