VANCOUVER and beautiful British Columbia (ongoing)

Happy December 1st! Christmas is only few weeks away, so to get us in the season spirit, here are some photos I took last year. Christmas time is such a beautiful time in Vancouver!

First few photos of the One Wall Centre lights.

In Westend many people put up beautiful Christmas lights for bypassers and residents nearby to enjoy.

Robson Square ice rink is an annual tradition for many Vancouverites. It is such a beautiful and urban setting to spend some time with your kids.

Luxury & Super Car Weekend is an annual upscale car event taking place in VanDusen Botanical Garden every September. Here are some long overdue photos of rare exotics from last year's show. To not flood this thread, there are more photos in here.

80s dream car Lamborghini Countach.

Porsche Carrera GT is another legend.

Ford GT is one of the few American supercars.

Lexus LFA has one of the best sounds.

2014 Audi R8.

The new BMW M4 is a common sight, yet looks fantastic.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a pretty rare sight.

When all your friends have an Aventador you got to tune it up.

Rolls-Royce equals luxury.

Bentleys have some very nice interiors.

BMW i8 electric supercar.

Brand new Lamborghini Huracan is sweet.

Bugatti Veyron Sans Noir is worth a measly $1.8M.

Pagani Huayra is a super rare hypercar to see. This was the first time I have ever seen one and it looks great!

The most beautiful hypercar on market is McLaren P1. It's like a sculpture.

Although rare, there were not one but two P1's to see.

On Sunday we couldn't resist the beautiful blue skies and so we drove up to Whistler-Blackcomb to start our ski season! It turned out to be an amazing day, despite only 23% of the runs being open so far. All photos are taken with a cell phone.

First run of the year as soon as the lifts started running!

Conditions were great on Whistler side with lots of soft snow.

They also have the Peak Chair open, although much of the high-alpine is still closed. The view from top is still superb, as always.

Can't wait for the Harmony and Symphony bowls to open soon!

We also checked out the conditions on Blackcomb's side. Few photos from the record-breaking Peak 2 Peak gondola.

Blackcomb only opened last week and the conditions were not yet ideal. We had few nice runs, but I would stay on Whistler side until few more snow dumps.

Some photos from hiking in Brohm Lake along the Sea to Sky Highway, a bit north of Squamish. The trail around this long lake begins dark and gloomy, but gets more exciting very quickly.

Brohm Lake on warm August Sunday.

The climb up to the Tantalus lookout brings out the sweat, but it is worth it.

The view from top is breathtaking.

The highest peak in this mountain range is Mount Tantalus (2603 meters). There are glaciers up the mountain even in summer. This range is also very visible from Sea to Sky Highway, but not as spectacular as from this lookout.

Back on loop trail around the ridge.

Back on Sea to Sky Highway. It was a 8 kilometer loop.

It's a popular spot for swimming and no wonder. We didn't have out swimming gear with us, so had to skip dipping in the lake this time.

Thanks guys! Nightsky, check out the watermark for more clues on where I am from.

Here are some views from Downtown skyscrapers.

East Vancouver and Burnaby as seen from Downtown. Such a beautiful metro we have! The snow-top volcano in the background is Mount Baker in Washington state.

Jug Island Beach is a nice short walk from the small town of Belcarra. This beach offers a great view of Indian Arm inlet.

Deep Cove and Quarry Rock on the other side.

The small Jug Island.

Back to this Christmas. It has been three years since I last visited the Vancouver Christmas Markets at Queen Elizabeth Theater plaza, so this year it was time to make a comeback.

Inside it is very nice and it resembles traditional German christmas markets.

There is a lot to see, try and buy.

Lots of the treats are niceto try and enjoy.

It was very busy on both times I went there (during week and weekend). People seemed to like it and were not in a hurry to leave. The atmosphere at the markets is great which is a big thing.

For young and also old there is also a merry-go-round to enjoy.

Did night owl skiing on Cypress Mountain last evening. Amazing conditions with temperatures below 0 degrees and lots of nice light powder snow. Snow line was at around 800 meters and above that it was a winter wonderland. You could definitely tell that they had just received a 75cm dump in just 24 hours!

Winter wonderland

Small coulds over the Cypress bowl.

Peak chair is open and snow is terrific.

On top of Mount Stracthan.

I have already taken Wednesday off to go hit some slopes up in Whistler! Weather should be sunny with lots of pow!

Looks like a great evening on Cypress!

Good skiing is hard to come by here on the eastern end of the continent, especially right now given the incredibly warm December weather.

Yeah, surprisingly warm weather on the east coast, but I am sure it will still change.

I have few friends living in D.C. and I remember them mentioning that it takes few hours to get to the nearest ski resorts. I cannot recall which place they were talking about, but it is indeed not as fortunate location in terms of skiing as here in Vancouver, where Cypress Mountain (and similar Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour) are all only 15-30 minutes drive from Downtown. And then there is the amazing Whistler, a bit under 2 hours away...
