I had never heard of Katyn before today, and I went to one of the most prestigious universities in the world. And I'm a history buff with a huge collection of books specifically pertaining to Europe. Live and learn, I guess.

I agree, great shots of the tower. I'm a little worried the whole complex was planned with a sense of completism rather than hoping to inspire subsequent growth in the skyline, but I'd be happy to be wrong on that.

I can prolly assume that after doing a bit of math that 1WTC has gone well past halfway to rooftop (i.e. 686.5'). It practically dwarfs everything around it *now*.

Just think. When the habitable structure's done, add the parapet and picture an intricate 438' telecom/beacon/functional spire atop all of *that*.

If this tower doesn't scream "bigger and better by a long shot" right in your ear, might I suggest--with all levity intended--wax removal treatment?

PS: Notice if you can in the first and last pics what appears to be the crane for Tower 4 peeking out right next to Gehry NY.

It does while it's alone, but think about the way the other towers were planned to have a "ramp up" effect toward it. That reeks of completism to me.

Never heard of Katyn either but now I know. Either way fantastic pictures jwalas!
Also sorry about reposting those MW3 pictures earlier these week. I didn't realize they were already posted.

Next two floors should make it at least as tall, if not taller, than One Chase Manhattan.

I love that webcam pic, animatedmartian. What's even cooler is the fact that the 4WTC is visible from this angle, which puts everything into perspective of what the Manhattan Skyline looks like in 4 or 5 years...

It's great to see such excellent progress at the World Trade Center. And to those who recognize/know me (it's been many years), it's good to be back!

the new goldman tower really adds to the jersey view...while, we are obviously going to miss the domination of the two towers next to one another. i think the skyline is going to look much thicker when completed

I agree. I like wtc. 1,2,and 3 better than the twin towers. And we get an extra building! I thought the twin towers strength was their beauty at night. That makes me so excited when all three buildings get done. To me they already have a cooler look during the daylight. The night look should be awesome. What amazes me the most so far about 1wtc is how much better the glass looks that's on the building v.s anything that was put out on paper in advance. We can only hope wtc. 2 and 3 will look as good when they go up.
