all the handrails that were rejected by the building inspector and replaced at the stadium are for sale on kijiji....would be a fun conversation piece if you need a railing.

I see. Not to go into to deep. But too high, not high enough, spacing of bars too far apart? If anybody knows. Seems like a stupid mistake to have made!

One of many. I wish I could tell you some of the others. They are actually hilarious in some instances. The leaky suites is a big one.

I stand by my prediction that it won't be expandable.

I'm sure they'll be able to get some extra seating in there, but whether it's the 6,500 that was initially promised is a different story.

For what it's worth the concourse congestion thing was practically a non-issue at the pre-season game, although the place wasn't close to being full.

I was going ask how things panned out with you at the pre-season game compared to last year even with a crowd of 24K iirc? Improvement over last year or no difference.

Vast improvement. Seemed far less cramped than at any game last year. I know people will chalk that up to the small crowd, but recall that last year there were crowds not much larger, like around 29,000 that were still a gong show in terms of traffic and concourse congestion.

I'm glad you have noticed a vast improvement.

With reg: to the number of seats available I cannot imagine they will come in under the 40K required to host the game.

This article is only 2.5 months old and is quoting the numbers for temporary seating capacity. Although they appear to be rounding the #'s off, the quotes are 33K expanded to 41K.

Quote:
CFL commissioner Mark Cohon makes it official at Investors Group Field
CBC News Posted: Mar 26, 2014

Winnipeg Blue Bomber CEO Wade Miller said Investors Group Field capacity will grow to 41,000 from 33,000, with temporary seats in both end zones. He added a renovated indoor press box will be ready, as well.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manito...-cup-1.2587148

They have to make the minimum requirement to host the game. All CFL stadiums new, old or U/C have this basic guideline requirement.

Are we now saying IGF's design is so F'd up it can't make 40K? I don't believe so.

There was no more than 19- 20k there. Monday night pre-season likely had an effect on the amount people were concoursing.

I'm not debating your numbers or appearance of empty seats, concourse traffic, it was announced as 24K paid customers by the CFL. Were there 19K in attendance, quite possibly.

I'm not saying it can't be expanded. I'm saying there has been zero accommodation for it. Judging by all the other issues, it will not surprise me if it doesn't work. They have to hand carry the beer around the stadium to each concession because the concourse was not built to support even light machinery to haul it. I have a difficult time believing the point loads of a seating structure are acceptable.

I don't know what the issue will be but it won't surprise me if there is one. Exiting may be an issue. Where will the stands go? How will people access the lower end zone seats if the concourse has stands on it? Look at the room next time. How will washrooms be accessed? There will be an issue.

nobody has thought about how it will work. Any assurance by politicians or cfl execs is just speculating.

I understand, but those are tickets given out. Not people through the turnstile. There was nowhere near 24k in attendance. Lots of buddy passes were given out, many wouldn't be used and probably a lot of season ticket holders that didn't bother. The upper decks were 1/2 full at best. My row in the lower bowl was empty except for two of us.

^ I personally thought 24K was a generous crowd count. So in reality the place was likely no more than 2/3 full.

I enjoy this thread, It keeps on giving, and giving. The debate is endless. Years later it will come up again. I liken it the the accident scene analogy where you can't seem to look away until the site of said mishap has been removed.

I believe legitimate concerns have been raised by many posters, but it's subsided somewhat since last year. We'll get through the GC test, ponder the outcome for a time and then our concerns will lessen. Their appears to be much speculation on IGF's ability to host this game. We'll see. Heaven help us, the NHL is at IGF in 2016.
