I really wish they had made it slightly wider. Looking at those photos I can just imagine two women walking slowly side by side pushing baby strollers while their toddlers and dogs run amok around them creating a huge bottleneck for cyclists.

It looks like its just the frame though. So once it is boarded over, it may very well be wider like it shows in those renders.

It also looks like it might be so winding in some places that it might be wonky to run or bike on it.

Yeah I'm a little concerned about the width also. I know I'm going to be going crazy with taking photos on that thing and stopping to stare at the view where ever something looks interesting to me. And agreed on the angles comment. You know people are going to be looking at the view and having a hard time paying attention to navigating those turns. Although, if you look at those platforms compared to that digger, it does look to be at least 10 feet wide and probably slightly wider than that. I don't think it's as wide as the Pfluger pedestrian bridge, though.

The boardwalk will be a minimum of 14 feet wide at all times, and wider in certain areas. The perspective in the photos may make it look narrow and windy, but it is plenty wide, and the curves are much more gradual than they appear.

The Boardwalk Trail is an approximately 7,100 linear foot section of the 10 mile long Butler hike and bike trail around Lady Bird Lake. Its standard width is 10 feet with a 2 foot shoulder on each side making a 14 foot total width for the bridge sections that will accommodate two abreast in both directions with room between for passing. There will be frequent minor widening and several rest areas to allow users a chance to stop out of the traffic flow.

Uploaded July 28.

I really think this is the project I'm most looking forward to. It is going to be such a nice and relaxing place. I cannot wait to ride my bike on this thing and check out the views.

Another great vantage point for skyline photos, especially at night with the reflection off the lake.

I'm excited for all projects. I might be leaning towards the Waller Creek a bit more but all of them are pretty great. I would love to see an urban rail soon. That would be the most exciting thing to ever happen to Austin... period.

While still a pipe dream, I would love to be able to park my car or ride my bike to the lakeline station, get on and be able to get around downtown on light rail. Then be able to jump on the LoneStar rail to hit San Antonio for the weekend without paying 30-50 dollars for hotel parking for the weekend. Sign me up for all of that.

Ride your bike to the MetroRail station, ride the MetroRail to downtown Austin, ride your bike around the trail and Lady Bird Lake boardwalk, store your bike in the lockers at the newly redeveloped Intake Facility, take urban rail to a bar/restaurant downtown, then jump on the LoneStar rail to San Antonio, walk the River Walk, then check out a Spurs game, then jump back on the LoneStar rail to Austin, take the MetroRail back to your station, and ride your bike back to your house. Now that is a full day. All without a car, except for maybe when you go from the River Walk to the AT&T Center.

San Antonio has a bike share program now, so you could rent a bike for your trip in San Antonio. It's a very easy bike ride from downtown San Antonio to the AT&T Center. You can take Houston Street, or rather one of the parallel streets. I've done it several times. It's just a 3.7 mile bike ride through a residential neighborhood with relatively flat terrain. I can do the ride in 15 minutes or so at a leisurely pace.

I was just in San Antonio 2 weeks ago and did that ride. You can see the photos from my trip here:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=206744

And another thread from March when I went that same route. The first couple of photos from the highway were form a separate trip.

Sounds like heaven...

You can actually take the Amtrak from Austin to San Antonio though can't you?
