A good Toronto shot came up today in the Canadian Skyline thread. Tried to find the most similar angle from 2000. Would be even better if it panned a bit further East and you see the growth up Yonge Street.

The crazy thing is I remember being on SkyscraperPage back then and seeing the renderings of Toronto's skyline with all of those towers depicted on the lefthand side. Those renderings back then came true.

Users Koops and Steveve still make fantastic future models of the city incorporating all current proposals.

Maybe in another ten years it will look like this.

It needs a 1500 footer right smack in the middle of the skyline.

As far as I am concerned, the Library Tower (US Bank) is still LA's tallest. Wilshire Grand Center's flag pole is a total fail. Beautiful building though.

I agree. I think the design of it is appropriate for a spire, but it's too tall for the building. A spire half that height would have looked better.

Judging only by the photo above, the spire is the right height. One half the height would look stubby. But it shouldn’t count toward the height of the building.

Durham, NC 2019. The baseball stadium is where the giant parking lot was in the first photo.

I couldn't agree more. Whether in-person or in photos, I have never seen an angle that would convince me otherwise. And until something out of this world comes along, Library Tower will remain LA's most iconic tower, a la Empire State vs. Freedom Tower in NY.

Looking at the skyline from USC or from the west, the Wilshire Grand appears taller due to the spire.

Perhaps it does to people who actually include the spire (flag pole?) in WG's height measurement.

And ^ this, ladies and gentlemen, is how a "before-and-after" shot is supposed to be done. Both photos captured years apart while standing in literally the exact same place.

Looks like it was actually quite nice then.
