542' is the tallest point. The shortest point is around 525'.

No posts since January! Does anyone have a photo update? Someone leased the first three office levels recently based on what's available on CBRE. Indeed took the top half of the tower.

I walked by the site last week and noticed I guess what is the elevator shaft or something finally rising above ground. Most of the work is still in the pit. This one is taking it's time to rise, however it was a pretty deep dig.

These may be new renderings - from the landscaping architect.

I actually hope that the rumored second tower never comes to fruition. Keeping that open green space would be better.

I don't disagree with that thought. But the fact that they are keeping it a privately owned park (with public access) instead of donating it to city indicates that they are probably still planning the second tower.

Nice, I've been wondering how they would deal with the elevation change in the open green space.

It would be a shame and a waste to block that huge beautiful window of what will become the second Food Court in Downtown. Hopefully if they plan another tower it won't be for a very long time.

It also brings better height to an area of DT that really needs it. 6×Guad will also go a long way in shifting height further north.
Agreed about the mechanical being visible on the roof. Fortunately, that view will likely be seen only from a few places north of the tower, like possibly the Capital Steps. The majority of people will be seeing the other three sides of the building which appear to be very well designed and will add a great visual to the skyline of Austin. Until I opened the link on a previous post (#434 previous page) I did not realize how commanding this tower will be.

Man, it makes me misty-eyed how this development re-activates and incorporates Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall. I love the respect they are showing the old historic Austin post office. It is almost like righting a wrong that was done long ago when that big, windowed facade was covered up by an ugly parking garage. Instead of hiding it, this new design showcases it and, as a result, will give Austin more of a feeling of historicity and identity.

I just wish it had been like this when I worked down there. I walked by that awful parking garage many times. This plaza (and food hall) will get a lot of use from office workers in the area.

Also, this image is a little misleading because there are lots of trees along the stretch of 6th Street right in front of this building. So, thank god it won't look this coldly corporate.

I haven't seen that rendering before now. How those columns are, in contrast to Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall, makes this look very good.

It's from the previous page in this thread. It came from this flipbook that has some newer renderings.

Those columns are a nice carryover from the ones on the CTJ Hall main entrance. I like the way this building and the One American Center in the background share their blocks with older buildings. It adds authenticity to the area that would have been lacking if they had been torn down.

Nice. You've got a great view of a lot of projects from Frost. This view in particular is an excellent vantage point to watch Block 71rise.
