I love that this one is going up. Way to go expanding density in Atlanta. Obviously others were earlier pioneers, however this project will really cement the advancement of the area and encourage even more growth. Really hope we seen adequate infill along the northern and eastern ends of the kudzu line. Chances are the density and walkability could be greater than what we may see along the EST...

Much of that massive superblock will be changed "overnight". Pretty crazy. I love urbanization.

I despise all that surface parking around the ironworks.

Same... at the time (early 2016) it was pretty forward for that stretch of howell mill; at least that side of the street. Now with the advent of Star Metals, The Interlock, etc. it sticks out pretty sorely.

I often think the same thing about the Brady Ave. MARTA Mobility bus depot. What a missed opportunity that was to sell that land for redevelopment and consolidate services at the Perry Ave. Bus Depot +/-2 miles away.

I imagine this will happen eventually, similarly with USPS and other GA Power parcels around Atlanta. Too many which were in industrial areas are now in the center of new development.

New O4W mixed use

This grocery/house closed around 2014 and has been for sale since then. Completely demolished as of yesterday

You can still see the remaining grocery at Glen Iris & Irwin across the street which has stayed open this whole time. According to the building permit it will have three residential units, office space and parking. Hopefully a nice new brick corner building a block from the Beltline.

Do you happen to have the link to the building permit?

Nah, just read it in the box: 594 Irwin St is the address. The former building was wholely unremarkable.

Hope it turns out as nice as the recent little corner building on Woodward in Grant Park

An application to rezone West End's Lee + White to allow the construction of 325 apartments and 39 townhouses has been filed (Z-19-023). The apartments will go along Lee Street, inside and over the current two-story brick building (demolition interior and building up to preserve existing brick walls). The townhouse will screen the existing surface parking for most of the length of White Street.

That sounds great. I love it when a development uses the existing structures.

Any idea if more parking will be added? Really hoping we do not butcher the south and Westside trails with parking decks like we did the EST.

According to the rezoning, it will be in the basement. No Dallas Doughnut isvshown.

Awesome, thank you. Those wrapped parking decks consume so much land above ground it kills me a bit inside. O4W for example, despite its infill, has so much land dedicated to parking decks. To boot, there's very little active retail in their developments. Focusing development near Lee&White (as well as back towards West End Mall & transit station) will be huge for the area.
