Here'a fly-through of the proposed $175-million expansion and improvements to St. Louis' Convention Center. There's no animation of interior expansion yet. I imagine it will come soon.

Washington University to spend $300 million on Cortex project

https://www.stltoday.com/business/lo...96bffa698.html

ST. LOUIS • The Washington University School of Medicine is planning a $300 million neuroscience building and parking garage in the Cortex business district.
University spokeswoman Diane Duke Williams said the project “is in the early stages” and she did not have detailed information to share. The St. Louis Business Journal, which broke the story, said the development could be the most expensive in school history, surpassing the current redesign of the university’s Skinker Boulevard entrance, tagged at $240 million when announced more than three years ago.

About 3 weeks ago the Skybridge went up connecting Centene's largest office towers.

More renderings on Irish Hill (Grand & Chouteau).

I believe this will happen because Cullinan Properties has a good track record in the St. Louis area.

They also have support from major institutions in Midtown - it seems.

Also, this area, in my opinion, is in desperate need of a quality hotel. It may give Drury an opportunity to move into Midtown.

They are certain to have business considering the new medical complex and SLU campuses - even Harris-Stowe.

I'm somewhat surprised that the residential and hotel buildings aren't oriented towards the sweeping downtown views.

Although, the views N, S, and W are pretty damn good too: North, Grand Center and SLU mini skyline; west, Central West End stretching all the way to Clayton skylines; and south, SLU med and apts of s. grand and water tower views.

I think this is a fantastic development minus a few hiccups it was more than i was expecting.. I think one problem is people tend to over analyze over visualize and over expect St.Louis doesn't justify for such a highly dense development however is it possible? Absolutely but until the overall population begins to grow in the city i think this will be the norm for now. Its a good project and its only the beginning..This is easily a 200 mil + development..

^ It's not a matter of expecting ultra-high density development. St. Louis has always been a low-rise city for the most part, which is fine as long as developers stick to good urban form. This ziggy-zaggy street nonsense is just architectural masturbation. Rectilinear grids are denser and more efficient. Just build a damn rectilinear street grid with ample sidewalks and build mostly rectilinear buildings up to the damn sidewalks. It shouldn't be so difficult.

^That's one thing that BPV is actually getting right. They aren't trying to do broken up nonsense. Although they didn't completely restore the grid but overall it is ending up better than I was expecting.

Saint Louis has a lot of good things going for it. Honestly I love Saint Louis so much that I don't want it to become one of those it cities. The city is one of America's best kept secrets.

On the heels of federal funding approval for the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) West Campus in North St. Louis, a first of its kind incubator is under construction in downtown St. Louis.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS FOR GEOSAURUS OFFICES IN T-REX
Funded by Bayer, Geosaurus will be a hub for startups specializing in geospatial technology
March 4, 2019 • by Katy Jamboretz

City Officials, including Mayor, Lyda Krewson, Otis Williams of SLDC, investors and supporters of the geospatial world converged to the T-REX building two weeks ago to witness the unveiling of the construction of ‘Geosaurus’, a new office space that when completed, will be available to startup companies that specialize in geospatial technology.

The new facility will be nearly 15,000 square feet in size and will be housed on the fourth floor of the T-REX Technology Incubator at 922 Washington Ave. in downtown, St. Louis. The name of the facility, ‘Geosaurus’, stems from Bayer’s Geospatial Innovation and Resource Center. Bayer, provided a $500,000 grant for funding toward the project. Bayer, acquired Monsanto in 2018.

T-REX was chosen as the location because of its’ proximity to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, who will be building a new facility in North St. Louis. The NGA is charged with producing the geospatial information and intelligence that provide the eyes of our national security operations.
