I walked by there this morning on my way to work and all the tables and chairs are still inside the restaurant.

I mean, it's a chain restaurant.

I remember the public outcry to this which was funny. I had to point out that Hooters is not a local restaurant (they're based in Atlanta) and they have over 430 locations worldwide. Granted, this was Austin's only beloved Hooters, but there's still one in San Marcos and Round Rock, and San Antonio still has 3, plus one in Selma.

The inside of the restaurant is being emptied. No demo fencing yet. The site has become a popular scooter drop off point. There is a new FAA filing for this project that states the building is 218'.

This may be as tall as 234' based on the east elevation on page 73 of the site plan linked to in previous post.

That could make this a little more significant that I thought it was going to be. If this is visible over the Catherine from downtown, then it could create a nice "staircase affect" with the Hyatt in front... Just my thoughts

Towers states the demo was delayed but will happen next week along with the official groundbreaking.

Quote:
Though the demise of the Hooters at 425 Riverside Drive has experienced a slight delay, we now know that both the wing shop’s demolition and RiverSouth’s official groundbreaking will arrive next week at an event hosted by Stream on Wednesday, March 13. The building is still on track for completion in 2021.

ABJ stated that the loan for the project has been secured and will be built on spec.

I walked by during lunch and saw that part of the East side of the restaurant was already demolished.

The second photo in the link is a night time shot of the remains of the Villas of Town Lake.

Thanks ATX I was having a hard time placing the location of the night time picture (it was taken from the pool at the Hotel Van Zandt in case anyone was wondering). I am not sure how that picture slipped in there, but now I am glad that it did.

I updated the status to site prep. But it may be U/C. Only part of the site is being excavated, and last week it looked like they were forming columns and pouring cement. But it's hard to see beyond the fence when driving by.

Not sure if they have an FAA permit yet but I passed the site today and there're several mobile cranes on the lot. That's usually a pretty reliable preface to putting a tower crane up.
