I really like this building and hope to make it out to Saskatoon one day to see the gallery but my god I cannot stand the lowercase letters in the name. Makes me want to pronounce it with a stutter. Why are they there? Is there a reasoning behind it?
Strange....ran by at lunch today and the signage that went up just last week by front entrance has now been taken down!? Maybe it was just for a photo op as I did see camera crew and photographer the day they were putting it up. Still....
I've been living in Amsterdam and just saw the Remai Modern in person for the first time today. I have to say it's looking fantastic. A beautiful building and a great asset for the city.
I also noticed that the underground parking is now open.
As the remai modern gears up for its public opening on October 21st (the gala evening is sold out, but free "tickets" still available for daytime tours), here is a good write up leading up to this momentous occasion for Saskatoon.
Also stumbled on this article from August that was in Air Canada's enRoute magazine....if nothing else, the anticipation of this art gallery is bringing much attention to Saskatoon from other parts of Canada.
Public Free weekend Sold Out!
Regardless of what many may think with respect to the "controversy" of this gallery, the people of Saskatoon sure seem to be interested in it! The online free "tickets" to view the gallery this weekend are sold out....pretty decent response from the community! Glad I got mine last week. Can't wait to see what the interior of the gallery offers.
Attended opening weekend....inside just as spectacular as outside! The space is pretty amazing...soaring ceilings, great natural light, spectacular vistas of river. The art installations were really cool, too! The building is as much a part of the experience as the exhibits....
Hope Saskatoon and beyond embraces this fantastic addition to the city
