As per a very reliable source on Mtlurb, the towers are now around 154m each which would now result in height increase of the Tour des Canadiens to almost 190m to clear the view for the penthouses.

Don't listen to that clown. He succeeded to troll an entire forum.

^I just went on that site and checked, and it seems very over-zealous of the troll and mtlurb. 1 semi-reliable source (that is, non-official) is not good enough for me. It is not enough for SSP, and shouldn't be enough for mtlurb.

Until I see an official announcement that says otherwise, these towers are 147m.

Of course...I would like to be wrong.

At the moment, this La Presse article remains the most authoritative source for the heights of most of the projects:

http://blogues.lapresse.ca/lapressea...s-de-montreal/

Until someone can find a better source (it would have to be either a city document or something from the architects/engineers), these are the only verifiable numbers we have. I don't think the La Presse journalist would make the numbers up. The only one that's different is the Tour des Canadiens because it has increased by two floors.

THIS project, like so many others happening in Montreal, is a blessing! From an outsider looking in, Montreal is ' on fire ' and has lots to celebrate. It's a shame to hear, some, forumers nitpick over minor details. But, everyone's entitled to their opinion. They, however, quickly seem to forget how fortunate their towns are to have such investment AND the absence of any. I confess to being, somewhat, envious of beautiful cities such as Montreal and only wish that MY own U.S. hometown had, just, a fraction of it's stunning (new) developments and proposals.... OH BIEN!

I agree. Any word regarding height must come from either the developer (or the City) because it seems that these proposals are always in a constant state of flux, subject to change when we least expect it.

If I want to read stories from semi-reliable, non-official sources I'll buy The Enquirer

by the by, i'd just like to say that while mtlurb is a good resource for the nuts and bolts on projects and updates, its members are not very well informed.

One of the main reasons I joined SSP many years ago was because I detested that giant lot in front of the bell centre. Now, I'm seeing it being filled up by 3 big residential towers. If I knew how to cry, I assure you, I would.

I'm just disappointed that a 200m office building isn't being built on this site.

I'm not, I really believe the area needs more residents rather then office towers, and with the absorption levels in this city, if we built such a big office tower here, there wouldn't be the demand for Deloitte and QDS which I think are really appropriate sites for office development where residential would be less optimal, mostly because of Deloitte doing what they're doing with the courtyard, and QDS not having sleeping resident and so no NIMBYs to complain about anything that might go on as far as festivals are concerned.

You mean the lot where the Roccabella is being build ? It was a church. I think it was TWO churches actually.

Here's a picture. You see the old Windsor hotel at the right (now the CIBC tower). At your left, where the two churches are, we now have the 1250 René-Lévesques and soon the Roccabella. The churches were most likely demolished when they enlarge Dorchester in the 1950's. But I'm not sure.
