Thanks Vashon! I couldn't find a rendering on The Blake's web site. It's a nice addition to that area.

Over in nearby Everett:

Project: Potala Farmers' Market

Quote:
The Potala Farmers' Market in Everett, an indoor venue with 60,000 approx. square feet, will be an exciting and vibrant center that connects local agricultural businesses to the community and attracts both residents and visitors. In addition to the year-round market, the project will include 220 luxury apartments and a 110-unit Hampton Inn by Hilton Hotels, both offering spectacular views of the Puget Sound.

Thanks for posting this.

Everett's got a couple of irons in the fire as for possible game-changing projects and there's a good bit of apartment construction.

I'd hate for the thread focus to sprawl significantly outside of Seattle city proper.

Maybe I should create a non-Seattle/non-Bellevue Metro/Puget Sound thread for stuff outside the main cities.

There's quite a bit to populate that. Lots of urban village six-story nodes are busy at the moment, plus Tacoma (or is that its own thread?) and so on.

I saw the Blake today. I have driven by a few times while it was under construction but it was hidden behind a 'curtain wall' they put up while some bldgs are under construction. They must have just taken down the wall in the past 2-3 weeks. Its a cool bldg..........I really like the first three floors. They are all glass.

Anyone know why they put a curtain or mesh wall in front of some bldgs?

Safety and sometimes wind/moisture protection depending on the type it is.

Maintaining one forum is a lot of work. Doing two as big as the ones you're talking about is almost a full time job.

I wouldn't be maintaining the section all by myself, it would be activated by group participation. There's 62mi between Everett and Tacoma. I think it would be great for city consciousness vs. regional sprawl blob section. Maybe I'll put it in the General Development section.

Ok, done. Everett/No. Sound is in the General Development forum. I put it there because there are neither real highrises currently there nor any on the realistic horizon anywhere near soon.

Now I have a place to post about the Everett waterfront stuff.

A Seattle City Council committee is expected to vote Sept. 16 on new rules for building microhousing.

Red dots show microhousing or congregate projects. Urban centers are shown in orange. Green areas are hubs or residential urban villages.

I wish Snohomish County would vote as well. My wife and I are wanting to build a tiny house and the laws here are vague at best.

Are you trying to build for yourselves or as a mother-in-law space?

You'll Find Seattle's Best Public Schools in Queen Anne & Ballard

Redfin scoured the ratings at GreatSchools and compiled a list of neighborhoods across America where the most highly-ranked public schools can be found. Here in Seattle, they've determined that Queen Anne and Ballard are the far and away best places to send your kids, followed closely by the Factoria area of Bellevue. They specifically cite Coe Elementary School and Hay Elementary School in QA as well as Adams Elementary School and Ballard High School in Ballard. Redfin then dug in to the neighborhoods to find out what it takes to live in these educational havens. No surprise, they're neighborhoods with higher median home sale prices, have homes that sell over asking more often than usual and that sell faster than the average home. The lesson is, if you want to live in any of these neighborhoods, do your homework.

The Land-Use Battle That Is Reshaping Seattle

A building frenzy provokes a citywide revolt, name-calling, and arguments over whether growth is helping or hurting housing affordability. And it doesn’t look as if it’s going to end anytime soon.

For myself. Granny flats are easy to do. If it is occupied less than 180 days a year the permitting is no problem. Permanent dwelling is a whole different ball game. That's a lot of the tiny house movement is focused on rural areas where they can skirt the laws.
