Here is another song named after our state by Nerina Pallot, a British singer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=MqIDuznX5zE

Our state song sums it up: "and romance lies in her name"

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

City Council approves new hotel in downtown Boise
By MARGARET CARMEL mcarmel@idahopress.com

Quote:
On Monday, Boise City Council gave an administrative approval for a seven-story, 138-room hotel and parking deck on Front Street between Fifth and Sixth streets, set to break ground this fall.

The project will be a Home2 Suites by Hilton, according to real estate attorney Geoffrey Wardle, representing the developers. It’ll be built by prominent Boise businessman Clay Carley.

Drink local, 1 ounce at a time. Boise’s only all-Idaho, self-pour pub opens with 30 taps

Quote:
The intriguing dynamic about Bru, which takes over a former Jamba Juice space Downtown, is that it’s designed to foster interaction. Customers are encouraged to review beers on the Untappd app. Three flat-screens display results in the taproom, which will handle up to 30 customers inside and 28 outside. “You can rate the beer and it will appear on TV,” Kessler says.

Bru celebrates community, too. All 28 taps of beer — and two taps of cider — are from Idaho, with an emphasis on the Boise beer scene.

“It’s all about supporting the local craft beer scene here,” she says. “If you’re a tourist, you can come in and try a huge local experience. If you go to a regular place, you’re going to be able to get one or two beers. Here, you can try all 30, because you can pour an ounce of each one.”

I thought Bend seemed like a nice city. Seems it is seeing a ton of growth as well. The ocean is closer to you, lucky ducky!

Boise to start phase 2 of whitewater park later this summer
By MARGARET CARMEL mcarmel@idahopress.com

Quote:
Beginning in August, the city will begin construction on the second phase of the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation Boise Whitewater Park near Esther Simplot Park that will add three more wave-shaping features for surfers and kayakers.

Quote:
Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway said the expansion of the whitewater park will add to the close network of public amenities in that area along the Boise River.

“It’s awesome because when you look at that area it really is a unique aquatic complex, between the 25 acres of water that’s in (Esther Simplot Park) and Quinn’s Pond,” he said. “Plus you have Veterans Park Pond just around the corner, and you have this river that runs right along all three of these bodies of water that will have this very unique whitewater park feature that will really complement the area. And it’s all completely free.”

FWIW, the 10-story building on 11th and Idaho was approved last week by the Design Review Committee.

if I read the documentation correctly, it'll be about 25 feet shorter than the Idaho Power building.

The new Albertsons on Broadway is done -- and it's huge. Opens this weekend. Here's the first look inside

Good info, Don. That mural is going to be great. This is a much better option to honor the neighborhood than to restrict growth and have it rot. A 6 story fake horizon will also keep all the alley cats fed with a fresh supply of bird meat.
