Wonderful news. A Metro in Kanata South is long overdue.

Any speculation on what that anchor tenant could be? The "seasonal" area to it makes me think it is a Lowe's. But Home Depot is right there and there is a Canadian Tire across the street. What other stores have a "seasonal" area part of their stores? A Superstore? (Loblaws is directly across the street).
My money is on Lowes. The front of the store has a lumber loading overhang, which narrows it down to Home Depot, Lowes, or Rona before Lowes took those over. The sidewalk down the centre of the parking lot starting at the accessibility parking is identical to the design at the Hunt Club location.

I didn't notice that overhand until now. Thanks for pointing that out! Definitely looks like a Lowe's.

The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan application to facilitate the development of 5 commercial use buildings. This commercial centre will consist of 4, one storey commercial, retail and service buildings and 1, once storey bank with a drive-trough. The development also includes a 157-space surface parking lot.

Forgot about this development at Hazeldean and Iber (SW corner). They are getting a No Frills so should see lots of activities.

That field is now home to a "Smart" Centre anchored by WalMart.

I drove by yesterday and noticed all the steel going up in that picture, but I also noticed there is 110% a gas bar going up as well which is great news.

I've always thought it strange that Ottawa's Costcos are so heavily skewed to the west end. We have 3 in the west end but only 1 for the entire eastern half of the city.

Quite frustrating. They're still planning on closing the Innes location?

I always thought Trim at the 174 would be a good spot for a Costco. That is until Line 1 plans were extended.

Yes, my understanding is that the Innes location will close.

It wouldn't be logical to keep it though I am sure the market size could justify another Costco somewhere in Orleans.

Over on the dark side we only have one in the East end. I would love a Costco at the Plateau. It would make a lot of sense in the future. It's quite a hike between the extremities of Aylmer and Gatineau proper, especially in traffic. I could see it in ten years or so as the population increases. Right now Halifax is the only Canadian city near Gatineau's population that has two Costcos and they don't have a bunch in the city next door.

I've seen site plans for the Plateau Power Centre with a Costco. Yet another Costco project that was shelved at some point.

I thought it was going to be converted into a Costco Business Centre? That was the most recent rumour I heard. Would be a great idea imo.

Wow I didn't know this was ever proposed! Costco tends to eventually get around to new stores that they propose so I bet we will see one in ten or so years.

Now that I think of it, it might have been IKEA, not Costco.
