I wonder if those rooftop AC units are worth salvaging.

More than likely not. Probably extremely energy INefficient and would need a major overhaul anyways. Some of the metal could be recycled I'm sure though.

I really wish they could have built on a different location, I like those buildings.

It certainly doesn't look like they're going to implode the building, unless that's what the curtain is for. I still hate to lose that mural.

Despite the doubters, Skanska still insists this one is a go, according to BisNow...

"The other big news is the 750k SF Capitol Tower. Skanska is currently demolishing the former site and will be able to deliver the new building in Q1 '18. Look for some very active marketing on that property: It’s been pre-certified as LEED Platinum, and has a unique 40-ft tunnel level. The Swedish global construction and development company has been in the Houston market since 2008, with projects going in all submarkets."

9/2 From Nate99 at HAIF. Implosion of what remains is not far off:

They're blowing it up October 19th.

Downtown high-rise to be demolished next month

From the Chron, they are marks from insurance people to detail what nicks and scratches are there BEFORE the demo, to see what happens after.
