^^ disappointing that this isn't happening. the placement of the ramp looks pretty clunky right now.

Looks nice, will be interesting to see how the ground floor looks now without all the awnings. Still wish they could have somehow restored the original clock tower - the top will always look funny to me.

Holiday Jones - Wrigleyville

It's interesting to me how this could be designed by the same people who gave us the AMLI monster in River North.

Bistro Margot replacement

Rather uninspiring suburban garbage, but will fit in nicely with other Old Town developments

^^^ "I think they just don't have the money."

The federal loan of Transportation money was tied to use on a particular Riverwalk project. The money was there.

The money was either grossly overspent on other sections of this Riverwalk build-out project, used for other Transportation projects or transferred out to pay ordinary operating shortfalls.

Times are hard because, for years, the City chose to sell off revenue from existing infrastructure to pay for ordinary operating shortfalls.

At the Boardwalk, beauty has given way to potential revenue generation.

The permanent positioning of the ungraceful (IMO) ramp down to the "lawn" from just past the Orleans St. bridge, rather than providing public access from the Lake St. bridge area, means about 30% of the Boardwalk property is covered by the ramp and 70% (from the end of the ramp to the Lake Street bridge and connecting nowhere) will "for now" not be in active use for most visitors.

Since the floating gardens and graceful Boardwalk concept is dead, one can only hope that the City has reserved that primo space to generate additional revenue (like from an actual water taxi dock or more food and drink establishments).

^ I think we should try not too go too far in "vendorizing" this space.

It is a civic asset, and should be left intact. I think having vendors on certain sections further east is fine, but otherwise let's not turn this into an extension of Navy Pier

Are you sure on that price?

There was a PD slapped on that land 4-5 months ago, and that was the money making parcel.

500 units, 19.5, FAR 513 ft.
$8 mil only works out to $16 a buildable ft.

Yep. $8.2M on 7/21:

"$8,200,000.00
1322 S MICHIGAN AVE , CHICAGO, 60605"

The planned development PD1317 is on 63556 sq. ft of property.

1322 S. Michigan is only a 11045 sq. ft lot.

Maybe the development process have gotten far enough along that they are closing on all the necessary parcels?

Yes, looks like that is 1 of 3 parcels making up PD1317

I think that development is now known as 1326 S. Michigan.

The amazing thing is that this entire phased development is in addition to the yet-to-be-seen new Rush hospital pavilion AND the Epstein master-planned development just west of Stroger. I'm thrilled that so many developers are finally seeing the potential for this entire area.

This vintage warehouse was just razed for an extra surface parking lot to the South Loop Mariano's: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8601...8i6656!6m1!1e1

And yes, that is a nearly empty parking rooftop
