Rebuilding the heart of Paris
This is the reconstruction of the exterior of the Forum des Halles, a mall built in place of the former Les Halles market.
A glass and metal canopy is under in construction.
The canopy will include:
-67,800 sq.ft of retail shops
-28,000 sq.ft music conservatory
-15,000 sq.ft hip-hop centre
-11,350 sq.ft library
-10,800 sq.ft of amateur workshops and a cultural centre for the deaf and hearing-impaired
This construction is done above the busy underground mall and big RER station, both are still in operation.
The architects are Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti.
The cost of the project will included the whole renovation of the hub is 802 M€ (236 M€ of which for the roof itself).
