I could only imagine London with Freeways: it would probably sprawl worse than it currently does (which is very badly). Still, there is no quick way to get North/South or East/West in the city, unless you go to the bottom of the southern periphery for the 401. Which is of little use for 95% of all the trips taken within the city. And transit really sucks compared to Montreal (only students and poor people use the transit here, whereas in Montreal and other large cities, it is less restricted to these two groups). I live relatively close to my place of work (Western U) so I can bike to work most days for 8 months of the year.
