Speed demon! (I know, time lapse, just having fun).

Really though, in bloom, such a beautiful city. Thanks Chris.

Got the call Friday to do an Engineering hardness test on the Walterdale bridge Flange Splice Plates.

Good news....they were all within spec.

it should be the other way - as should the high level bridge. that way traffic to downtown would be top of bank to top of bank and traffic not destined for downtown could continue on 109 street to nait etc. alternative routes - in both directions - would also be more accessible.

Road girders for the Walterdale. Did some inspection work today. The men are putting in 20 hours a day to get this ready on time. Pretty intense schedule.

Project Update - June 2016

Although it isn’t always obvious on the live stream cameras, a lot has been happening on the bridge since the final arch lift in April.

The arch has been disconnected from the temporary red tower supports and is now resting on its permanent foundations. The lifting towers are being dismantled and will be used as temporary supports as the deck is installed.

Deck construction starts this month, and work will advance from both the north and south abutments to meet in the middle. Meanwhile, landscaping and utility installation is going on around the site.

All of the steel needed for the completion of the bridge is in Edmonton including the deck and the shared use path.
Does anyone believe this thing will be completed this year?

What are the tests your doing? Is this on material before install or after?

The city is double checking the material from Korea to make sure it meets the hardness requirements. To brittle and it will crack...to ductile not strong enough. Bring in 3rd party to do tests and reporting. These tests are carried out before installation on the bridge.

Bump
Does anyone think it will be done this year? With no deck it's gotta be delayed until 2017, no?

Deck is very quick to install, once certified acceptable.
