I can never look at the Golden Gate bridge without thinking of all the suicides that happen there, really sad stuff.

I know you didn't but the op did ask for bridges in your city not the bridges of Madison County.

We have plenty of bridges, but nothing particularly impressive or attractive (except maybe the Calatrava-designed bridge in Etobicoke), but my favourite nonetheless is probably the Prince Edward Viaduct, for its intricate steelwork and subways running on the underside - even if the new-ish suicide barrier kind of detracts from it.

^^ I too find suicide barriers distracting. In Ithaca they are being replaced with nets placed below the bridges.

That's pretty easy for Naugatuck-Here's the Whittemore Bridge:

Oops, hang on, lets lower the water level a bit.

• Maple Avenue over Naugatuck River
• Naugatuck
• Concrete arch
• Length: 3 spans, 180' overall, 66' maximum span length
• Built in 1912
• Henry Bacon, designer

Whittemore Memorial BridgeThe citizens of Naugatuck built this handsome bridge to honor John H. Whittemore, who died in 1910. Whittemore was the head of one of the city's largest industries, the Naugatuck Malleable Iron Company, and he used his great wealth to benefit the community. Among his gifts were two schools and a library, all elegant buildings designed by New York architects McKim, Mead and White. A bridge was chosen as his memorial because it would combine the attributes of practicality and beauty associated with Whittemore's philanthropy.Whittemore Memorial Bridge The plans for the bridge were drawn by Henry Bacon, a nationally prominent architect best known today for the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. (1922). Bacon's design was applauded as "a monument to the memory of Naugatuck's most public spirited benefactor . . . a fitting tribute to him who has made our abiding place 'a city beautiful.'"

For Worcester, I think my favorite is the Burns Bridge, although I'm not sure If I like the new one or the old one better.

I agree. I need to take a road trip to go see it sometime - it's on the G50 Expressway that connects Shanghai to Chongqing, so it wouldn't be that hard to get to from here.

They got the first strands of the suspension cables for that bridge across the valley by attaching them to rockets and firing them across the valley, due to the challenging terrain.

Uh oh, it's the bridge police. You better watch it or I'll post another one without an identifiable city!

Calm down, it's not that serious...are you seriously ragging on someone about not being fun at parties while you perform photo security? And why are you sticking it to me and not the person I responded to? Scratch that - I don't care.

Apparently, picking one and only one bridge from one city is just too difficult for some forumers.
