HERE ARE a pair of early drawings and the site plan for that apartment tower Hines has said it’s considering putting up across the street from the Asia Society Texas Center in the Museum District. Previous reports and rumors pegged the building at 20 or 22 stories, but these elevations appear to show a 25-story structure, with 19 floors of apartments perched atop a 6-level parking garage. This drawing shows the north façade. The block Hines has in mind is bound by Caroline, Oakdale, Southmore, and San Jacinto, where the light rail runs. But it appears that the building won’t take up that whole block: The site plan shows that the tower has been drawn around that home on the corner of Southmore and Caroline, whose owners have been rumored to have refused to sell.

That site plan shows a park replacing the 1919 house recently used as an eyelash institute and presently standing vacant at the corner of Southmore and San Jacinto.

Looks like The Woodlands has hooked another fish guys.

Quote:
The Woodlands Development Co. broke ground Wednesday on its next multifamily project — a mixed-use development within the 66-acre Hughes Landing.

The 390-unit project, dubbed this week Lake’s Edge, will be the third-largest building in the Woodlands, with 825,000 square feet and eight stories.

The project is expected to deliver in the first quarter of 2015.

Done!

Also added Hines Museum District to the list as well.

I think he's referring to the first page. BHP Billiton Tower and Astoria are still in the Highrise Proposal section because Skyscraperpage rules doesn't consider the two to be under construction yet.

I'm surprised they didn't do a better job of matching the glass on both towers...unless they purposely didn't want to.

Yeah I don't like the new tower as much as the other one. The design and glass isn't as good looking. But whatever, still impressive that a once crap generic exurb now has two high rises and loads of mid rises.

3 more highrises are underway, also there is a rumor of a 40 story shell tower for The Woodlands.

Haha, that's what I was thinking as well. They both are 16 floors.

Why wouldn't they build up, say 30 stores, on such limited land in the Woodlands? It doesn't strike me as particularly urban-sensible development.

Please elaborate. I work for Shell, we have two buildings downtown plus a large section of 1000 main. Shell is investing in renovations and improvements to its US headquarters at 1 Shell Plaza and I've heard nothing of any plans for a Woodlands building nor do I see the point.

They are just rumors I read a while back on thehaif. I have a friend who works for shell too and she doesn't know anything either.

The only towers that are official for The Woodlands are: ~20ish-story residential tower, 13-story boutique hotel and 10 Waterway Avenue. The only rumored tower for The Woodlands that seems to be something true/accurate (so far) is a 3rd tower for Anadarko. Multiple people have heard about it.

Here's the thread on HAIF for the rumored Shell tower:

Oh I was talking about the 10 waterway avenue tower, the 20 story condo, and the highrise in the Hughes Landing.

So back to my original request for elaboration... haif mentioned this as a rumor just as you did or were any details given, even if only "heard from my coworker..."?
