Bentley announcement

Would be nice if the announcement would allow casinos. Alabama is losing a lot of money to neighboring states, all of them.

Oasis was a mirage?

So Crunkleton and the original website were both pulled down. Anyone know the scuttlebutt?

Here is why:

We probably won't hear about this project for quite a while.

This project has been wandering around the internet for over a year.
While its exciting to see these type of announcements, the time and effort to put together the ideas but initial reaction is epic fail or it will be started but will never be completed.
This type of hotel needs to be downtown (not the Las Vegas style architecture).
The food court idea is being implemented at City Centre. The arts complex is already at Lowe Mill and the Medical Complex should be downtown as well.
That potential site I-565/Greenbrier is an ideal location for a smaller upscale strip center with a couple of typical freeway hotels and restaurant options..
Unless there is some unknown development coming to that area that would drive this project please developers quit crying wolf. Actually break ground and build something then we will visit.

Well, Oasis seem to be back according to an article I read today. Supposedly it was because it was removed from the website yet because it hadn't cleared all the company hurdles to be released (although, as Tiger said, it's been on here for quite some time, and last week had more information and the narrated video).

I kinda doubt we'll ever see it. I agree that a large hotel should be downtown, but that area has a lot of potential. And there are plenty of large, tall hotels in other cities in the suburbs. So maybe the location isn't all that bad.

Only way this would remotely work is if it is a casino.

http://schrimsherproperties.net/down...rett-building/

Work has started on this little project downtown. Rumor has it The Nook will be moving into it. With this project, The Avenue and The Garage there is quite a bit of retail space coming downtown. Slowly but surely Downtown is becoming the place to be.

The avenue partly opened this week. As cliche as it sounds the synergy is finally there and these retail and residential projects will just continue to fuel each other.

Hmmm, not sure how I'd feel about this. The Nook opening a second spot there, I'd be all for that! But The Nook leaving their spot just as the west side is growing with Campus 805 and Lowe Mill, don't think I'd like that. Maybe they're losing business to the breweries. Would be great to have another craft beer spot downtown I guess.

Probably true. Wish You Were Beer relocating to Campus 805 at the of 2016 is going to saturate that area with craft beer anyway, even if The Nook chose to stay where it is.

Wish You Were Beer is staying at it's current location as well. The new spot is slated for a late November opening at Campus 805.

Thank you, I did not know that. I just gave them a call and was told that, initially, they had been planning to relocate and close the store in Madison. They changed their mind and will operate from both locations.

Constellation activity "very soon"?

So, this interesting article posted here http://www.al.com/business/index.ssf...art_river_home

states that "Constellation – The proposed mixed-use project near the Von Braun Center is still in the works, according to developer Scott McLain, who said residents will see activity at the site very soon."

I wish the article clarified two points:

1. When did Mr McLain say that? Two years ago or just now?
2. How soon is "very soon"?

Good questions
also from the article
"In 2017, we'll see a couple of the large projects come to fruition and a couple more begin," Chad Emerson said. "I think you'll see CityCentre in particular really take some strong steps forward and you'll see people living, working, playing at The Avenue and The Garage at Clinton Avenue.

"What we're finding is that we're regularly getting calls from people who want to live downtown, who want to move or expand their companies downtown and who want to increasingly go to more events and play more downtown."

Michelle Jordan, Huntsville's director of planning and urban development, said the RFP cutoff date is Oct. 27, at which point the city will begin an internal review of the proposed consulting firms in order to make a final decision.

Jordan hopes the process works similarly to the BIG Picture plan through public engagement, community gatherings, charrettes and meetings with partners who have a vested interest in downtown.

"We want to better understand how we can better define our connections with our surrounding parts of interest," she said. "Our connection to our universities in town, to Cummings Research Park and to neighborhoods adjacent and connected in some way to downtown."

I also noticed they left off the project that is suppose to be started by late Fall on the corner of Greene and Holmes. Does anyone know that status of that project?

If you don't know, the old Tai Pan Palace at Governors and Memorial is becoming a stand alone comedy club.

This project is about complete
Elitaire Boutique, the first tenant to announce it would open at The Garage, will launch at 10 a.m. Saturday and offer 22 percent off to the first 22 customers who visit the small business. Pangburn said other tenants will host soft openings over the next few weeks as they finish their buildouts.

In addition to Elitaire, The Garage will be home to Frios Gourmet Pops, Roosevelt & Co., and Indigo Shoppe.
