That's better. At least the deck, tables and chairs are.

Thanks.
Looks like higher capacity, too, even though the outside barrier stayed the same.

Pretty sure it's still staff training because there are no customers and there's still an opening soon sign on the door.

I'm coming back to Vancouver in a couple of weeks. A teen burger is definitely on my long list of things to eat. I don't know what it is about that burger, but I just really like it.

Breweries open until midnight, last hour entry program part of proposed Vancouver liquor changes

Other policy changes could enhance alcohol availability on patios, cultural institutions and businessesà
CBC News Posted: Jun 09, 2017 8:35 AM PT Last Updated: Jun 09, 2017 9:58 AM PT

Under proposed changes to Vancouver's liquor policy, breweries could soon be open until midnight for patrons, while clubs on Granville Street may be required to limit entry as closing hour looms.

Staff have made 32 recommendations to council on how and where people can buy and drink alcohol in the city.

Other proposed changes could see improved city support for provincial legislation allowing alcohol to be sold in grocery stores, other businesses and at cultural venues, like galleries and museums.

Nine of the 32 recommendations seek to help promote the responsible consumption of alcohol.

Wow, tons of A&W locations popping up everywhere! Isn't there another one about three blocks west on Broadway? Wonder if any of the franchisees are concerned about this? Here in Coal Harbour we have one at Bute near Melville and 2.5 block away another at Alberni near Bute.

Surprise nobody mentioned it as it was all over the news, but Chill Winston is closing at the end of the summer. It's place will be taken over by another branch of The Local, part of the Joey Group.

Gastown has been fighting the chains for a while, unfortunate to see them losing the fight. Going to be bad for the area, either the locals shun it and the area has a dead zone in it's heart, or it gets supported and we see more chains invade and Gastown becomes another Yaletown and loses it's charm.

Were they fighting off the chains or was the area just not in the right demographic for a chain to pay the bucks to open up in Gastown? I doubt the people that go to Chill Winston would notice any difference.

You can be sure the people that go to Chill Winston will notice the difference and won't be the same crowd. Note the people that visit the Donnelly establishments in Gastown with the non Donnelly establishments to see the difference. A step in the wrong direction for sure.

There's always the Old Spaghetti Factory. A real Gastown institution.

Speak no more - 901 W Broadway

Walking home today, I noticed the Speakeasy at Broadway and Laurel St was literally closing for the final time tonight. I popped in to ask staff if they knew what was to happen to the site, and was told the following.

The Speakeasy was cannibalizing it's Granville location, and apparently the staff from Broadway will be transferring to the other location. As for the building, it will apparently become an "Indian Food Buffet Restaurant". However it should be noted that the property is also up for sale.
