It's not by choice...

I know, the whole Boise-State-to-Big-East thing fell apart as the Big East fell apart. Now they're the laughably underrated American conference.

If the Big XII wants a championship game, though, they need two more teams (ironic, given their name). Boise State would be one obvious choice. Far less obvious would be the other, which could come from any Power 5 conference, the American, or possibly even C-USA or also the Mountain West.

Colorado will get at least 3 Pac 12 wins this year. They'll get at least one upset. But they need 4 wins to become bowl eligible.

It's still a year off, I think.

A 6-7 team (even a 5-7 team) is technically bowl eligible in certain circumstances. It's highly, highly unlikely, however.

ASU is the only underrated team in the Pac-12 and they will give Utah the biggest challenge in these coming weeks. Utah has hardly proven itself to be a top ten team. Oregon was and still is overrated.

Meh. People have been saying ASU is an underperforming elite team for the past 10 years. And yet they never break through. I'll believe it when I see it.

Nobody is going undefeated in the Pac this year.

ASU will be the true test for Utah. They've never been able to beat ASU. If they do now...then I suppose they really are a top-tier team this year.

I agree Oregon was seriously overrated, which became clear after that ridiculous drubbing Utah gave them. I agree Utah has yet to prove itself, but they looked better against a better opponent than any of the rest of the Top 5 so far. (Northwestern has looked the best overall thus far this season, though.)

In 2013, Utah lost by 1 point to ASU and by 3 points in OT in 2014. I don't think ASU will be that big of a test. I think UCLA was more overrated than Oregon.

So do I.

I think it's more of a mental test, which is as big of a hurdle as anything. Playing a team you've never beat, or haven't beat in a long time, poses more of a mental challenge than playing a top ten ranked team that you beat in the last year or two.

I agree. I think we beat Cal. The ASU game is the one that will show if this team is legit or not.

Utah teams in the past have struggled with giving a consistent effort. If this Utah team can be stronger mentally than in years past, the sky is the limit. If not, games like Colorado in 2011 and UNLV in 2007 will happen.

I agree about the mental aspect. The Utah Jazz could have beat the Bulls one of the two times Utah was up against them in the finals, but I don't think they believed they could beat them.

Almost every year, Univ. of Utah Basketball would face Kentucky and get knocked out of the tournament by them. The one year Kentucky wasn't on the same side of the bracket, Utah made it all the way to the finals, against Kentucky. They came close, but again, I don't think they believed they could beat Kentucky.

I don't know why Utah Football would be more afraid of ASU than they were of Oregon, though.

Whoa Utah
Utah takes the trifecta placing 4th, 3rd and 2nd.

For "Football Stadiums With the Best Natural Scenery" Romney Stadium in Logan comes in 4th place, Utah Stadium in Salt Lake City comes in 3rd place and Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo comes in at a lofty 2nd place.

Whoa Boulder
You're Number One

Utah Man

Here's something I never, ever thought I would see. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing the University of Utah's fight song.

GO UTES!

No, the U said they weren't changing the song, but that those who felt uncomfortable could sing Fan instead.

Meh. Would've been better with a GO UTES! shout at the end.

And although I'm not LDS, I am a U alumnus and there are many prominent Mormons who are Utah grads... I think that irritates byu fans.

Well you guys have got to be proud -- BYU beats a strong East Carolina team, and Utah beats Cal. That game was intense, wow.
