Been messing with the mental ray hi-def renderer. This is new to me so it's been a lot of work getting everything set up and there's still errors I need to get rid of, but the shadows and lighting just look amazing.

Plaza fountain with materials removed.

WTC with materials removed.

Semi-finished product with some rendering errors.

^Oh, that's nothing. I finally got most of the mental ray renderer and materials working over the last couple days. Renders now take 30-60 minutes for 800x600 stills, but holy crap does it look real. At least the towers do. I've only begun to look at the plaza and secondary WTC buildings.

Absolutely incredible STR! The pictures look very realistic.

If you a SimCity fan you probably already know about BATer known as rubrik3 who made a recreation of the entire complex for the game.

Again well done.

I'm aware of the SC4 model and it is and awesome creation. In many ways it is the bar I've set to match and exceed. However, it does lack in the accuracy department, but that's my only complaint.

Wireframes, for those wondering exactly how much detail I put into this.

Wow, just wow. I studied 3-d animation for two years, and I can testify to the sheer amount of work involved in something like this. You guys are amazing.

Thanks so much for keeping the memory of these magnificent towers alive, I always wanted to visit them personally, but sadly never got the chance.

Excellent work STR.

Yea, they were great structures. My first time in NYC a friend said "Hey, let's quickly go up to the top of the WTC." and I said, "Naaa, we can do that the next time we're here." It always gives me such a sick feeling to know there never can be a "next time".

Does anyone know if there will be any models or renderings of the WTC in the memorial?

Work beings on the WTC concourse. After that, I'll see what I can do with the lower floors.
