Old 4th Ward

Updated rendering of 608 Ralph McGill which so far does not have a name.

Are we sure that's the project? The other rendering looks so much different and I don't remember it having retail....it's not a great looking project. Very suburban looking.

Look at the renderings for this project that came out earlier:

Definitely not the same project.

Wow! This is a really bland design. Something I'd expect out of a mid level hotel in the suburbs.

It looks like a garden style apartment...not an apartment building you find in the city. I really hope they mixed it up by accident and they're going with the rendering I posted. I just don't believe that's it because there's no elevation being shown like in the renderings I posted.

If you click on the project details, it says it opened in July 2016, so it must be a mixup.

https://www.workzonecam.com/projects...h/workzonecam1 Is the camera for 608... There is no way it can be that suburban looking render because the site has a slight rising grade from west to east consistent with the original render;

I wanna see the receipts

It may not be the same project. I realize that the rendering is nothing like the original but that was from a different developer, Inland Atlantic, as you can see in the linked Curbed article.

http://atlanta.curbed.com/2014/8/20/...look-like-this

The rendering is what's on the website of the current developer. I think there are a couple of possibilities here ...

1. It is just a placeholder rendering until the design is finalized
2. The rendering is of the eastern side which will be only three stories due to the grade change implied in the original rendering.

The permit on the project is for "apartment building with 5 stories over 3 level concrete, parking podium" which doesn't quite mesh with either rendering.

This would be my guess. It would be consistent with AMLI Parkside next door which is only 3 stories on the Ralph McGill side and the side facing this development by the leasing office, but is 5 or 6 stories facing the park.

Google maps updated its imagery recently (at least for Midtown, gives a birds-eye view of everything under construction)

A couple of additional renderings of Emerson (2520 Peachtree). I'm kind of curious what the north side of the tower looks like.

I know this is old news but there's an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle with more details about Loudermilk's condo project in Buckhead.

I wish they could find a way to keep The Fish Hawk and Chuck’s Firearms. They are both Buckhead mainstays.

Quote:
At 225 feet, Loudermilk’s new project will be among the tallest buildings in the Buckhead Village, rising over Peachtree and East Paces Ferry roads with 57 condos averaging 3,000 square feet. Three penthouses will feature views south toward Midtown and downtown. To the north, residents can see the glass office and condo towers soaring over Peachtree and over 400 along the Buckhead Loop.

***

The Charles will take shape just two blocks from the former Aaron’s headquarters and stand across from Buckhead Theatre, a concert venue Charlie Loudermilk fought to preserve. The Charles will also sit alongside a park that bears Charlie Loudermilk’s name.

The building will likely feature units starting at $1.5 million. With just five units per floor, they will sit over 30,000 to 40,000 square feet of street-level storefronts along Peachtree Road, which will take the place of longtime Buckhead retailers The Fish Hawk and Chuck’s Firearms.

I am not a fan of this building. I think it's the mishmashing of balconies that makes me think WTF were they thinking??

Egad. Looks like something out of Star Wars movie. Lordy - I like bland suburban over whacky doodle urban.

OK I'm kind of in the middle on this one. I don't think its as amazing as some people think it is but its certainly not "wacky" either.
