I was interviewed today in regards to 38 Clark Street Boston. It was fun sharing my story with them. Folks think my Grandpa Harold Briggs whose nickname was Charlie. He may have been Charlie from Scollay Square T fame. I am pretty sure he was not. The story goes that 38 Clark street (A walled off Alley, with a entry into 44 Clark). It was dummy address so that folks who moved from the North End could vote. It payed my Grandma Edna $100 per vote up until the 60's. Her Rent to Mr. Mooney (As was mine...) was the same as her vote tally. I have no way to verify any of this. I did however live in downtown Boston for free between 1982 until 1991. Every night when I would come home from work and a plate of food would be waiting for me. Mrs Pecorora made sure I was well fed. I would take her to the markets on saturdays.
