I could see Walmart taking one of those ... Brentwood maybe?

Looks like Vinyl has opened up in the old Lotus/Honey/Lick spot, it's out of the basement where Lotus used to be. Looks like upstairs is still a complete mess and looks months away from opening.

The Vancouver store, home to the chain’s two top performing sales staff, who are expected to top more than $4 million in sales each this year, is also up 20 per cent in dollar value per transaction over last year, said Barbara Wolfson, vice-president and Vancouver general manager.

i wonder why the new owners decided to change the bars - it looked like honey/lotus/lick were always pretty busy

6 months or more of vacancy and then trying to introduce a new club? seems odd...

Depends whether its a new lease, or if they bought the business (i.e. rights to the name, etc.)

+++++

The Running Room on Cambie (at about 7th) is now open.

It had been mentioned here by Jlo (I think) that Mark James had sold the building and the new owners terminated all active leases. They've been working on the ground floor so hopefully something good albeit less edgy will take over.

------

The Running Room is a good addition to that neighbourhood but I was really hoping that the building would've been leased to one tenant considering that spectacular glazing added to the facade. I thought it was a perfect restaurant space given the high ceilings too. And why the delay for Menchies Yogurt Bar?!

Salomon Opening First Retail Store in Vancouver

By First Tracks!! Online Media

Vancouver (BC), Canada – On October 6, Salomon Store Vancouver will open its doors in Park Royal with a party and debut a rustic new design concept that celebrates the mountains and is the first of its kind in the world.

“Of all the cities on this planet, we chose Vancouver to launch our new store design concept because this is the place that best embodies the essence of Salomon,” says Pascal Clausse, Salomon Head of Business Development and Retail. “To us, this city and its people, and the environment surrounding them, is the essence of mountain sports. In the coming months, Salomon will be opening more new stores in this design concept in Chamonix, France; Moscow, Russia and Toulouse, France.

Largely comprised of soft goods, the 2,000 square-foot Salomon Store Vancouver across from Whole Foods in Park Royal will also boast a complete range of Freeski, Nordic and Trail Running gear. The store’s new design offers a warm and rustic contemporary ambiance and the influence of the mountains is evident with signage featuring way finding codes and symbols. Rough wood and rock are punctuated with contemporary finishings. Shoppers are invited to explore Salomon’s digital kiosk and discover sport specific footwear options and their technical benefits. Salomon’s Footlab offers a dedicated fitting center to ensure a perfect fit.

Expect news regarding the new Pacific Centre rotunda entrance at Georgia and Howe soon. Leasing is nearly complete and the project should be beginning construction end of 2011 start of 2012 for completion Q1 2013.

Over a year's worth of construction, hmm. That sounds like a substantial structure - more than just a cosmetic change but less than a new major structural development. Somewhere in-between?

Its a new structure. Old renderings were posted on here a while ago, they must be floating around somewhere. In short the plaza where the rotunda is now will be filled in with a 2 storey addition to Pac Centre.

I'll put up the new rendering when the leases are finalized.

All I could find are pics of the REJECTED version.

Here are some renders - this form was rejected by either the UDP or the DPB a few years ago.
One of the comments was that the Pacific Centre entrance was not prominent enough (on either Howe or Georgia)
and looked like an "afterthought".
No word since.

These pics were posted in this forum a few years ago but I can't find them here - found them through Google on another forum:

it kinda makes sense that the entrance for the mall will be in that spot since kors and stuart weitzman seem sort of off from the mall in away will be weird to see the plaza and atrium gone but a better use of the space

WRT Pacific Centre renovations - here's a shot of how it looked in the 1970s and 80s before the renovations for the Expo86 tourists (i.e. before the stained glass/California ceiling look).
The ceiling colours were pale beige, ochre and orange from what I remember.
