Nah, maybe ice will fall off the slopes and hit pedestrians. I called it first...

I doubt that ice formation would be an issue. Tell me how much ice chunks have fallen from the top of the Chrysler Building.

With those sculptures up there, you'd expect some formation of ice, right?

Most likely the wind will push it towards the tower wall. Not a big risk.

Not neccesarily. Listen, there hasn't been any problems with ice falling from the building so far, so you wouldn't expect it, but I've seen time and again issues with skyscrapers in Manhattan that weren't expected. You just need one piece of ice to fall from this building, and the media will be all over it. That will only feed into more complaints.

As new towers are built, we can only learn from past experiences.

Construction sites have been known for safety violations; (i.e. New York Times Tower, One57, etc.), yet once construction completes, the finished results are usually safe.

I'm admiring from Phoenix, AZ after traveling to NYC frequently on business. I love this building. Some quick questions from a novice, what are those brown wooden looking windows scattered about? Will those be replaced? And what is that large blue section on all the windows towards the bottom? Is that a protective covering of some sort and when will it be removed? The windows don't all quite look finished to me.

I like what we have. No need to revel in what could have been for this one.

That's a little sad to see, the 2007 or 2008 models could easily have been built today.

I can appreciate both what we have and the design process that led to it. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

To think that One 57 is going to be the shortest kid on that block in just a few years...

I like how this tower (along with the additional future towers) are going to make W 57th the canyon of billionaires.

I also like how W 57th is going to give 42nd St. some friendly competition (especially considering the redevelopment surrounding Grand Central).

Some might suggest that One57 is just another tower, but I believe that One57 is just the start of something big with more to come!
