And the only reason it's as tall as it is is because the taller they allowed it to be, the more money they could get for the site and they needed the money badly to build the Terminal.

The only chance we have for anything taller is if someday they need money again for something like this and can get it from selling another downtown building site but nothing like that comes to my mind. Can anyone else think of some such opportunity likely to arrise in the future?

Sigh. So I guess we better enjoy this last "very tall" building going up these next three years. Parcel F still holds some hope and I believe a site near the shorter Oceanwide Center tower (the upcoming Waldorf Astoria) is zoned for a "pretty tall" building. I think that parcel is currently occupied by GG University in in my opinion, an "ugly" structure.

The tower which the Waldorf will occupy--at 636 ft--is part of the Oceanwide Center project which is made up of 2 towers and is going up simultaneously (i.e. now). In fact, they seem to be excavating the foundation of that tower before the taller tower.

Once these 2 are completed, Parcel F, if it proceeds soon, will probably be the tallest going up for quite a while. While some "pretty tall" towers are planned for "the Hub"--in the vicinity of the Market/Van Ness intersection--none would be taller than the one planned for Parcel F.

^^I didn't realize they were drilling the caissons not only to the bedrock but as much as 60 feet into the rock. This baby probably won't sink.
