If I am not mistaken this is the third largest multi-family development proposed in Atlanta. (1) Being the 14th Street Proposal with 1200 Apartments, (2) Amli's 600+ apartments in Buckhead and (3) Atlantic Reality's 600 apartments in Cobb County. Truly astonishing.
Cobb County four midrises, at least: The Aberdeen in Vinings, The Towers in Smyrna, Horizon at Wildwood, and One Vinings Mountain.

All the above are already in existence. I don't have a picture of Smyrna Towers on S. Cobb Dr, but I believe it's an older senior living building.

Park Vinings is a planned 30-story senior living facility in Cumberland.

Now, it's cheaper to build short, so long as it's not too short where the land becomes outrageous. We're not going to see them really start to go vertical on condos until Cumberland and Vinings is completely out of space. Then they start having to cram them in. That time is coming, but it's not here yet, even when the Braves stadium built.

GRTA: Improvements needed at Braves stadium site for approval

http://mdjonline.com/view/full_story...me_top_bullets

Quote:
More and better pedestrian access will be needed at the site of the new Cobb County Atlanta Braves stadium before opening day in 2017, according to a state transportation agency.

The recommendations, released late Monday by the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, include several conditions it says need to be met in order for the stadium project to be approved. The agency is reviewing a traffic study the Braves submitted in May, and the GRTA board will vote on final approval June 18.

The list of recommendations includes pedestrian access along all sides of the project’s roadways, signal timing coordination, transit shuttles and signage on interstate exit ramps, among other items meant to ease access to the site.

Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee said the county is supportive of the recommendations and plans to implement all of them.

Cobb Pkwy is no fun to walk on, new streetscapes or not. The pedestrian bridge over I-285 that I actually originally proposed to the CID before the Braves discussion came into the picture will help, but they'll need to fix the area in that corner of the interchange as well. Once you get past that corner, it gets a lot better since there's trails, etc.

i wonder if the water features will still be there. that area seems to be cropped off in these new renders which leads me to believe they are debating whether to include that or not. but who knows. kindof a boring looking stadium to me

Apartments, 2 hotels, retail planned near Braves stadium

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/m...ar-braves.html

Quote:
Cobb planning officials on Tuesday approved a rezoning request for a proposed development near the Atlanta Braves new stadium site that is expected to include a five-story apartment complex with 392 apartments, two eight-story hotels with a total maximum of 290 guest rooms, and 80,000 square feet of retail space, the Marietta Daily Journal is reporting.

The proposed development, called Stadium Walk, is planned for a 12.6-acre tract at 4501 Circle 75 Parkway. The development is less than a mile from SunTrust Park, the site of the new Braves stadium, the paper adds.

yeh WTF!!? they made that a key part of their original proposal and mockups showed that the entire southeast section of the development would be forested. looks like they just cleared the whole thing. also looks like they havent actually begun much if any real construction/foundation work. look at the falcons stadium site. the are going vertical and well under way. this is going to be a rush job to pull off an April 2017 opening
