Major League Baseball

What the hell, every other sport has it's own thread and the Expos could be back any year now. With the Jays on the verge of taking top spot in the East away from the Yankees I see no reason not to have a thread for everything ML Baseball in Canada.

One bright spot for the Mariners in a less than stellar year...

Quote:
Mariners’ Iwakuma tosses no-hitter against Orioles.

SEATTLE — Off the bat, Hisashi Iwakuma believed the slicing flyball was going to find its way to the outfield grass and end his dream of joining an elite pitching fraternity one out shy.

Then he saw Seattle teammate Austin Jackson sprinting with his glove extended in the air, ready to squeeze the final out and put Iwakuma’s name next to Hideo Nomo as the only Japanese-born pitchers to throw a no-hitter.

"I can’t find the words to express my feelings," Iwakuma said through an interpreter after the fourth no-hitter in the major leagues this season. "I’m truly happy."

It's like a pitcher with a no hitter in the 7th. Don't even mention it.

Oh i'm not saying the playoffs are a for sure thing.. but 2 weeks ago they were 8 games back, now they are +0.5. Its an exciting time to be a Jays fan.. whether or not they get first place in the division come October.

Superstition persists in baseball probably because as Yogi Berra would say, "it ain't over til it's over". The Jays in the last 22 years have been playing as if cursed too.

I'm glad someone started this thread. Well done TorontoDrew!

I'm very much enjoying watching the Jays of late. I watch (or listen to) a fair number of games every season, but this season is becoming a lot more interesting.

Also pleased to say I'm going to the Jays v Yankees game this Friday. :-D

I'm a die-hard Blue Jays fan for almost 20 years now. I was too young to remember the glory years so the Jays being in first in the AL East is kinda unreal for me.

There is still a lot of games left so i'm trying my best not to get overly excited.

Going to the game today. It's a sell out as are all the games for the Yankees series.

Cardinals, Pirates & Cubs all look really strong in the National league..
The Giants look a little anemic compared to their past few years with 3 World Series appearances & win last year.

I'm a Dodgers fan & really liking Clayton Kershaw's consistent pitching

My dad has always been a Cardinals fan but for as long as I remember, he never paid attention to the playoffs. The last year or two have been hard for him to follow the Cards. But he watches Jays games because he can't get Cardinal games a lot.

The last time they were 1st this time of year was in 93. And that year the won the World Series, just saying.

lol Face it, as much as people like you would hate to admit it and you're in the minority these days, the Toronto Blue Jays are Canada's team.
