Slip of the tongue. I think he meant tallest building.
In that case, it would be the Willis tower.

Completely agree with you Traynor. Just imagine what an incredible sensation it would had been to stand on the diagonal corner and look up and see the building hovering over you.

i'd have to disagree.. the bottom part being different adds contrast to the tower, and it also blends in better with the memorial building and the entire WTC complex.. having the same glass all the way up would look bland and un-original

Traynor--that looks SO much better than what they are currently doing (I really hate the fact that the new lower glass appears lighter and duller than the glass rising above it). What you did looks very elegant and gives the appears of a uniform tower.

I'll agree that the base co-ordinates with the Memorial (Which I also happen to dislike.) but that is exactly the reason that it just blends in with its surroundings.

I would just have preferred the clean, less fussy and uncluttered look of all the same glazing.

The base would have looked like a reflection of the tower, which would have been cool.

I agree dude. I even made my own crude photoshop version in less than 5 minutes. I still like it better than the current base. Oh well.

They should get rid of any references to 9/11 up there. That's why we got the Memorial for God's sake! I mean who on earth wants to be reminded how planes crashed into the WTC when visiting the obs.deck??

Also, what's up with those cheesy Mc Donalds ads? Oh dear...

I'm so glad the city has big other projects like Hudson Yards, Nordstrom, 432 PA etc. Otherwise I would be worried...

I think the base looks good with the current design. Better then before where it looked like it was going to tip over at any minute...

That was a plan to rebuild the Twin Towers. It was called Twin Towers II.

http://www.triroc.com/wtc/

It's not going to happen though.

Also the base is the way it is, because they couldn't build a glass that would have worked for the original base design. They had to box it Traynor.
