Enjoy!!
I looked at the webcam yesterday after a link was posted at al.com, but
today the webcam doesn't seem to be working. Speaking of webcams, here's
a page with links to all webcams on campus plus several in the City of Auburn:

http://www.ocm.auburn.edu/webcams/

Too bad there's no webcam to follow progress of The Village student
housing. Anyone in Auburn care to take some pics and post them?

And here are photos and floor plans for the Auburn Student Center which
opened this fall:

That's a nice campus you have down there. The only time I've ever been able to visit Auburn, it was pouring rain, so I didn't get a good look.

Do you have pictures from the actual city of Auburn outside of the campus area?

Glad you enjoyed the pics! Other than the photos of Downtown Auburn and Downtown Opelika already posted in this thread, I don't have any other photos beyond the AU campus. I'll see what I can dig up on the internet.

It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend up here, and I was already planning on going around campus to take some shots, so I'll be sure to post some, including the progress on the dorms/new arena.

Look forward to seeing your pics, spookyapp! In the meantime, I found these photos of The Village that were taken a month ago:

Nothing new that I'm aware of, but I haven't had a chance to make it to a game so far this season.

Well, Bama does have the advantage of being closer to the state's largest city which means that higher gas prices are less of a deterrent for making the drive to watch a game. If Tuscaloosa was as far away from Birmingham as Auburn is, I doubt that Bryant-Denny would be full when Bama is having a mediocre season (especially when playing a weak opponent). Bama also has the advantage in the fact that "The Bahr" made lifelong fans out of the majority of the state's rednecks (or should I say crimsonecks? LOL) who wouldn't miss a game even if they couldn't pay their bills or feed their kids.

ttownfeen, last week you requested "pictures from the actual city of Auburn outside of the campus area." I've been searching
online the last few days, but it's hard to find any photos that aren't of the university or the downtown area (which has
already been featured earlier in this thread). I did find a few photos to fulfill your request, but mostly of the
neighboring city of Opelika.

However, I did find some awesome (make that AUsome...LOL) aerials of Auburn (and a few of Opelika), some of which show how
the university relates to the surrounding city.

These first two aerials were shot from above the wooded residential areas north of the university and downtown looking south.
Downtown Auburn lies beyond the left edge of these photos, and in the first photo, the commercial corridor along South
College Street at I-85 is visible in the distance:

.

Here is an aerial view of Village Mall (anchored by Belk, Dillard's, JCPenney, and Sears) which is located on Opelika Road
(US 29) about 2 miles east-northeast of Downtown Auburn and Auburn University (visible in the distance on the left).
Downtown Opelika is located about 4 miles in the opposite direction.

This is the old train depot on the north side of Downtown Auburn. It has been used by various businesses over the years
(not sure what it's being used for now). It was here in 1896 that some mischevious Auburn students gathered to grease the
tracks prior to the arrival of a train carrying the Georgia Tech football team. That train slid 5 miles past Auburn before
coming to a stop, and the team had to walk all the way back that night which probably contributed to their 45-0 loss to
Auburn the next day.

Glad you enjoyed the photos! I've got a good feeling about tonight and feel that the worst may finally be behind us. I hope my hunch is correct. WAR EAGLE!!!

Randy, Foy's only used by a few organizations now, and other than that it's going to be used as spillover classrooms when other buildings are being renovated. In about a decade or so they plan on razing it for a parking deck - nowhere near the best use for a site that's right on Thach Concourse, but I'm not Bobby Lowder so my opinion is useless.

Thanks for the update! A parking deck? Well, if Foy is razed, I could see a parking deck filling in the area where the 1974 addition (where War Eagle Food Court is/was) and adjacent parking lot are located which would keep it out of sight (for the most part) from the Thach Concourse, but hopefully the area where the original building stands (facing Thach and Ross Hall) will be replaced by another building.

Anyway, I just discovered this aerial photo of The Village and Arena construction (taken last month):

Seems this would go against the plan to make the central campus pedestrian that has been underway for several years now only unless access would be from Magnolia. I would love to live in the new village if I was still a student.

However, I did find some awesome (make that AUsome...LOL) aerials of Auburn (and a few of Opelika), some of which show how
the university relates to the surrounding city.
Thanks for the update. I can't imagine how much time it must have taken to get this put together! I really enjoyed it.
