Seems like it's usually the best designs that die on the vine while the ugly crap ends up getting built.

And opening in 2017? They sure want to make quick work of this tower. If they plan to open in 2 years, then how far are they in the approval process?

Clearly they haven't talked to the alderman first and this proposal is probably DOA as much as I wish it were reality.

Mexico’s largest hotel company is expanding north of the border, aiming to open up to 10 luxury hotels over the next five years in U.S. cities with large Hispanic populations and ones that attract Latin travelers.

Grupo Posadas S.A.B. de C.V. is teaming with Bighorn Capital Inc., a Las Vegas-based private-equity firm that is investing $450 million to build, acquire or convert properties to Posadas hotels.

The Mexico City-based hospitality company owns or operates 136 hotels with more than 21,000 rooms, all in Mexico, and seven brands. The expansion will introduce to the U.S. its high-end boutique brand called Live Aqua, which will feature the “flavors, colors and textiles” of Mexico, says Javier Barrera, Posadas’ chief franchise officer.

Judging from the article, it seems that the reason why they have big plans in Chicago is because of our large Hispanic population. It would certainly be wonderful to have more Latin travelers welcomed to our city, which would increase our international tourists numbers (even though they're right next to us).

What the fuck indeed. Someone over there is clearly ballsy to think they can break ground that quickly. Munchymunch, spyguy. Do you guys know something we don't?

"Latino Cultural Center gets radical redesign" ???

Kidding...

If it's scheduled to be finished so soon they must have it pre-built!

I just hope the actual design is inspired and they don't take shortcuts.

Could be the West Loop location was a misquote. Conservatory looks about 82 stories.

It's also right on top of the city's busiest transit station, with direct links to the city's Mexican neighborhoods on the Pink and Orange Lines as well as both airports.

Any chance it ends up looking like the proposed 625 West Monroe that was floating around last year?

So this matches the article(crains) earliar this year about 201 n Clark. {amount of rooms) and bighorn being involved. One of the renderings spyguy found was from a Las vegas comany(where bighorn is from). To add to that Dream hotels announced a hotel in Chicago the same day as the article from crains in Chicago.
