The south end of Downtown has a rezoning plan coming up. Also there are some specific development plans that should have a major effect, particularly the north lot. Even now the development is pretty significant in percentage terms.

I do like it! But there are these random buildings here and there and everything is so compacted! I guess I have to show pictures. Specially from West Seattle. I say we need more density in First Hill but traffic in that area is a little harsh, specially in Boren Ave! God I hate Boren during rush hour!

We need a building in the North downtown area like the IDX Tower, takes up much of the block but isn't like 800 feet tall. Or like the Wells Fargo Center [not the same design but the way they are designed to fit the skyline]. That's a cool picture Hans btw!

I want Downtown to be bigger and denser. Skyline is an afterthought.

I think 1918 8th is going to be similar to IDX Tower, but without the companion building or lit-up crown.

IDX - I was disappointed when they changed the design, replaced the pyramid top with the flat top, but it turned out OK and has some redeeming qualities. It's a great filler. That's about all I hope for 1918 and the height provides redeeming points.

Speaking of lighting, the small building 818 (?) has nice lighting around the rim, little points of light. Maybe 1918 will have the same.

I knew they'd find some way to sneak beige into that. Sometimes I get the feeling that Seattle city planners just sit around wanking and sacrificing virgins to the great God of Beige and Brown all day.

From what I can see, that area on Aspira is an odd flat black color. I haven't really seen that before....it beats straight up tan/beige though! I can finally see the top of Aspira coming up from behind the Metropolitan towers from my apartment. Strange though from my perspective on Cap Hill 1918 looks the same height as O8. It must be elevation differences...I wonder what mechanical equipment on the roof top will do. I like how its shorter sibling turned out, so hopefully it will look good too.

Not really skyscraper talk, but does anyone know if the Hard Rock cafe is still moving in? The building looks like its interior has been cleared, but not much else. That block could REALLY use some help, touristy or not.

^Hard Rock in July. Their salads are so good.

In other news, 815 Pine, the pretty building next to Tower 810 by the Convention Center is slated to break ground next year. Based on the timeline, that's pretty reasonable.

I pass by 1918 8th, West 8th and Aspira every day... hmmm...

Big pano I did of the Seattle skyline from a week or so ago in the rain. Skyline is looking good, but the north side boom is not as apparent from the west side.

Yeah! Awesome Pano! I always say to myself that I'll do a skyline pano from West Seattle but I get lazyy and forget.

But anyways, here are some updates again! I walked around today and I got some pictures of 5th & Yesler and I must say, it is one sexy building. Even though we see that hideous beige, the black looks good.

Were there stairs before this building that linked Yesler with 5th Ave?

My favorite part of the building is that it looks so f'in sleek from this angle! It looks bamb!

And just a shot of Aspira I took a couple hours ago! It looks really good, wayy better than I expected. And I fixed the camera distortion a bit, hope you guys don't mind.

thx, hopefully will be up there again in the next couple of weeks to try on a clearer night, although the artificial lights under the clouds gives the skyline some nice color.
