Not really "proven" so much as they definitely want to be in controlled, mall-like environments: Avalon (was North Point), Perimeter, Lenox. I'm surprised they didn't set up shop at The Battery

Exceptions, of course, are top city shopping cores: Chicago, NYC, SF, DC

The developer is seeking to rezone the property to transform the Harp building into 42,145 square feet of office, restaurant and retail space. The rezoning will allow the office use.

Georgia Tech has picked a developer for a planned $140 million West Midtown project that would target rapidly growing startups for new loft offices surrounded by stores, housing and a boutique hotel.

An affiliate of Georgia Tech, Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures (GATV) has selected S. J. Collins Enterprises to lead development of the 9-acre site at 14th Street and Howell Mill Road amid some of intown Atlanta's trendiest stores and restaurants.

The proposed West Midtown project would include at least 100,000 square feet of loft office space, 70,000 square feet of retail, 275 residential units (either rental or for sale), and a boutique hotel.

Very nice. Hopefully Star Metals starts soon. West Midtown will be one of the best and most walkable neighborhoods in the city in 10 years, not to mention hopefully a new great park.

I noticed the sign on the Coastal States building downtown today looks... weird. I can't tell if maybe the storm on Saturday night destroyed it or if they removed it all together and what remains behind is what was covered by the sign. In any case, thought it was weird. Anyone have any more info?

Good catch. Hmm, Richard Bowers & Co have space on the 18th floor and a few lower floors available. The Daily Report (organ of Fulton County) took space there in April. The "signable" tenant I see is LiquidHub

$300M mixed-use project planned near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The historic Friendship Baptist Church is seeking to rezone 17 acres of land diagonally across from Mercedes-Benz Stadium to redevelop the area into a $300 million mixed-income and mixed-use community.

Giant south downtown project taking shape

German real estate company Newport US RE has an agreement to buy south downtown Atlanta’s 222 Mitchell Street building, a hulking eyesore that could be re-imagined as one piece of a sweeping redevelopment spanning multiple city blocks.

Newport wants to stitch together and master-plan numerous south downtown properties from Underground Atlanta to 222 Mitchell Street.

Atlanta's economic development agency Thursday approved using up to $9 million in tax dollars to help finance construction of a $90.5 million residential tower downtown.

The 14-story, 302-unit apartment building will be located above an existing parking garage at 161 Peachtree Center Ave., adjacent to Peachtree Center and close to the Peachtree Center MARTA station.

Construction is due to begin in January, with completion of the project expected in late 2019.

If this tower begins construction as scheduled, with 120 Piedmont beginning construction later this year one block east of it this could get interesting. We may finally be seeing a real, lasting resurgence of downtown.

Does anyone know what they plan to do here? Saw that they were demolishing the building during my jog today. This is at the end of the east side Beltline for folks not familiar with the area.
