It's been awfully cold in town lately.

By my count we have 4 floors to go for the first transition.

181 and Salesforce looking good in these amazing SF aerial photos by Louis Raphael on Flickr - it is worth checking out the entire album, but here are a couple to whet your appetite:

Have you guys noticed that the columns for the latest floors appear to be significantly taller than the previous floors? On the Salesforce Tower cam, check out the size of the north corner post that was installed today (1/6/16) compared to the installation at the same location on December 9.

I believe the new set of columns extends the building to the next set of exterior corner braces - the columns may be longer to accommodate those massive pieces.

I work down by 8th and Townsend, and I believe that I can finally just barely see this poking up on the skyline.

I've been seeing it from home for a while now, just like peanut gallery predicted would happen soon. It's exciting to figure out just how structures will be positioned in the view, including Park Tower.

I wonder if these extra tall columns (triple floor) have anything to do with the first turn back transition of the diagonal columns happening now?

Crane jump today. I've noticed that two significant pauses in vertical growth have occurred prior to crane jumps. For more than two weeks, upward movement has been at a standstill, and the most recent floor construction sequence was altered to exclude the front section of beams because they would block the crane's view of the rear of the building. The same thing happened in December.

As silly as it sounds that a lack of crane extensions may be interfering with construction progress, from an outside point of view, it seems to be a possibility.

Anyway, finally, to paraphrase the immortal words of Destiny's Child, the crane is jumpin', jumpin'.

critical picks for the corner pieces where the dampers meet the columns are.....critical, and need to be handled as such. As I said before, theres also a ton of welding that needs to be done before you can jump the crane and rise above the damper connections
