EDMONTON | Epic towers | 30 and 26 floors

2 more condo towers planned for 104th Street

Work on Fox Tower to begin later this year

CBC News Posted: May 30, 2012 6:46 AM MT Last Updated: May 30, 2012 8:07 AM MT Read 0 comments0

The developer behind the ICON condos on downtown Edmonton's 104th Street is planning a new development just one block north.

Langham Developments is hoping to start construction on Fox Tower later this year on the northwest corner of 104th Street and 102nd Avenue, one of the last parcels of undeveloped land in a section of downtown going through a massive transformation.

Fox Tower — actually two towers — will be similar in look and design of the ICON's brick and glass facade.

"It's equally attractive if not more attractive," said Langham Developments president Reza Mostashari. "ICON plays with a lot of curves on the balconies and the structure. Here we try to make them look interesting, but playing with more angles."

The 27 and 32-storey towers will combine retail shops on the ground level, with office space above and condos on top, a total of 320 units.

Nice looking towers. Judging by the podium, I'm guessing this is in a historical area?

There's actually set to be a great deal of activity in this area, what with the potential for the arena, these, Ultima and any work the Grant MacEwan will be doing to consolidate their campus. I'm most excited about the fact that this will extend the great 104th Street atmosphere north of 102 Ave. Let's hope that phase one sees some success!

Name changed to 'FOX' and the site prep for the shorter tower has commenced.

EDMONTON | Fox Towers | ?m | 27-32 floors

Icon builders plan condo on 104th Street

The developer of the Icon Towers in downtown Edmonton is planning to build another condominium just one block north on 104th Street.

Langham Developments Ltd. recently purchased land at the corner of 104th Street and 102nd Avenue, which is currently the home of a parking lot.

The company plans to build a development similar to the Icon on the site.

"We're thinking of two high rises," said Langham Developments president Reza Mostashari.

"The scope of it and how tall and how many units is still a moving target at this point, but we are going to probably start with the first phase first and then gauge how that goes and then introduce the second phase, just like the Icon."

Detailed plans for the new project should be completed by the end of the year.

Looks like Edmonton is getting a lot of residential towers in the downtown core recently.

Looks to me as if they are pouring foundation. We should move this to the construction thread.
