This one is going up quickly, and given the exterior structural elements it will be fun to watch it take shape.

I took these yesterday. It has changed a lot already since simms posted his shots.

They are building up from the back:

I didn't shoot it from the other side but on the webcam you can see that the bulk of the steel has been installed in the back (away from Fremont) half. Basically up to the taller column to the left of the crane below. They will eventually fill in to the large column peeking out on the far left:

And to the corresponding column on the far right of the site:

I am way too excited about this building.

I get excited too, then I remember I'm not one of the 67 unicorns whose residences will be personally signed by Mr. Diaz-Aczuy.

I'm not sure if this will play for everyone, but here is a Facebook video posted by a friend who works across the street. Today they are starting to close the front face of the first three stories, finalizing the building footprint before starting the great ascent.

Edited to add YouTube video
Video Link

I bet this will top out before Salesforce reaches ground level.

*Also, this started a couple months before Salesforce, but is already rising up to the third floor now. Soil conditions the same, adjacency to train box the same.. contractors and constructors seem to be much more competent here.

Yes, it doesn't matter that Salesforce Tower has a significantly greater number of deeper foundation pile, or that 77% more material was excavated from the Salesforce site. The two towers should be constructed at the exact same pace!

Boo, Salesforce, you suck - you only bring misery and despair to the people of San Francisco!

181 Fremont, you are awesome! A ray of hope in our dark world.

What's that? We have breaking news? A quote from the March 2013 Jay Paul press release for 181 Fremont?

Quote:
Jay Paul Company and Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank (C&CCNKF) announced today that Jay Paul Company has acquired 181 Fremont Street, a Transbay development site, from SKS Investments. The San Francisco-based developer plans to immediately commence construction of the fully entitled, 54-story, 684,000-square-foot office and residential condominium tower. Upon completion, projected for the second quarter of 2015, 181 Fremont Street will be the second-tallest tower in San Francisco’s South of Market/Transbay neighborhood.

So you are saying there have been no construction delays with Salesforce? That contradicts what we heard from another site member. But could be rumors, who knows.
